Ah, I a friend got those when I last went, I think they are a serrano type.

I'm willing to pay in GOOD money, or services, if someone can resuscitate/save my coffee plant?

Still limping along is it? Balls, missed an opportunity to help out as I went to a recording of Gardeners' Question Time recently, should have posed the question for you, would probably have been answered as its quite interesting. Soz. Write in? Eric Robson often takes a question from the GQT mailbag.

Fuck me, Olly, you must've been the youngest person there by 50 years!

Yeah it was a bit of a coffin-dodger convention. It was being hosted where my wife works at the British Geological Survey, so rude not to really. Free tea n' biscuits too.

I just surprised myself by thinking what a nice evening that sounds. I'm not 18, anymore, I just realised.

second season for chilli plant

Nice work! Did you cut it back at all before winter? Kept indoors obvs.

This being the first time I'd overwintered a chilli, i refrained from prunage.
Also, as I'm aiming for sustainability I'm not going to overfeed.
Going to be taking cuttings > http://junglerain.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=58&Itemid=93
Pretty chuffed with 20+ fruits in spring :)

We should meet for a taste-off in late summer. I am growing some seeds which are direct descendents of this:
Three seedlings germinated, they are tiny compared to my other strains, but hopefully they'll produce something.
Cool. They look immense. I had a couple of Dorset Naga and a couple of Bhut Jolokia going together, so mine are a bit of a bastard combination of the two. Devastating. I took a few to west drinks many moons ago and blew a few minds.
You guys are playing with fire. I grew a super-hot variety once and it was lethal. Completely unusable. Fun though.
absolutely. they are too hot to use, but fun, nonetheless.
mine have been poo for the last few years, as i said. i am hoping for a good summer.

Two questions:
1) I've got three tomato seedlings (this is all I have. Fail) which settled quite close to each other - 1 CM apart and close to the edge of the planter (actually a sack). Should I move them now? They're about 3-5cm tall.
2) We got an Areca palm today for indoors. It's sitting next to a floor-to-ceiling window, but in a fairly constrained space (behind a sofa against the window - 40cm from the back of the sofa to the window). How cramp can Areca/palms be?

Oh, and I was going to buy some feed today for non-tomatoes (already have tomato feed). But the jug was enough for 10,000l or some craziness. It wasn't particularly expensive, but I don't need 10,000l of fertilizer. Can I just use the tomato stuff on other plants?

Not sure about house plants but other veg plants should be fine. I feed all my cucurbits tomato feed.

Yes. If you need some more tomatoes let me know, we will almost certainly have some spare.
Once you've moved them, give them a good soaking with water and they should be fine.

Cheers, Andy. I'll shift them this afternoon. And thanks for the offer. If I expect to make it to the deep dark South at any point soon I'll let you know (but unlikely).
Although, I may be hitting South beers tomorrow to meet Clair for some cantis if you're around for a cider (not tomatoes. Taking them to work would be a bit much to ask).

I can't tomorrow, Andrea will be in Gateshead with work so I'm looking after the kids.
-

They're just tomatoes, Andy.
But shame - hopefully run into you soon.

Yup. Pretty mild, easy to grow.

How many weeks in was this? We've used 50/50 "quick" vs "nice" seed mix and after 2 weeks it's looking rather sad with about 10% germination.
