Growing this from a pink lady apple bought in a shop. Will this ever fruit?

I have done this with a Gala apple. So far the tree is alive after 3 years but suffering from rust every year. So I doubt I get fruit but willing to try.

Fruit trees are grafted on rootstock and many commercial ones aren't very hardy.

So worth trying but don't expect too much :)

Pink Lady is a trademark for a company, not actually a variety of apple. But chances are its a Cripps Pink, which apparently won't fruit in the UK:

Cripps Pink requires a long, 200-day growth period and a hot climate, making them difficult to grow in more temperate latitudes

Plus as JWestland says, rootstock control things like growth rate, size, productivity, disease resistance etc at least as much if not more than the fruit variety. So basically if you actually want a good number of decent apples, buy a grafted tree. If you are just experimenting, why not

Internet suggests that due to the way commercial apple growing works - grafting process and all that - your pink lady apple seed won’t produce a pink lady apple tree, so it might yield something. But yeah, pretty unlikely. I have a little apple tree going from a seed that my kid planted and has been nurturing, don’t really have the heart to tell her that it’s not likely to ever produce any fruit.

Can anyone recommend some hipster gardening tools (for a gift)?
Have some Niwaki stuff, looking for something similarly exotic looking but very practical.

Can't go wrong with a good set of Okatsune 103 secateurs or a good classic Haws watering can.

Another vote for a Niwaki hori hori or Okatsune secateurs. They're both trees hipster but deeply satisfying to use. The secateurs in particular. Deadheading has never been so ever so slightly less soul destroying.

Anyone successfully stopped foxes shitting in their garden? We've got some regular visitors and while I'm more than happy for them to chill out in the garden overnight I'd rather they didn't leave anything behind...

I love my Felco secateurs, just like my grandad and my mum. Pretty reasonable compared to Niwaki.

Human piss is one method I've heard of. We have something leaving squidgy deposits on the grass that I may attempt to deal with organically.

I don't know if this will actually work, Sparky, but I've found the foxes don't shit in my garden anymore now that I've got a collection of toys that they play with. I didn't give them the toys, to be clear, it's just stuff they've stolen from the neighbourhood and left in my garden. For whatever reason, even though I know that they like to shit on things they're interested in, they don't seem to enjoy shitting where they play, in my garden at least.

So maybe get them a few tug rope toys or something and see if that helps :D I set the stuff out nicely for them in the evenings before I go to bed, lol.

I've attached a photo of my Fox Distractor Setup so you can see what my local foxes approve of (this years' cubs have 0 interest in the middle one, but all previous generations loved that thing, whatever tf it even is as I have no idea).
