This Peony has been in bud like this for about a month, they are all falling over though, is there any benefit to trying to tie them a bit more upright for when they flower?

Also, there is loads of this in a border that is yet to show any signs of flowering or becoming more interesting - any ideas what it is?

I have these. I always forget what they are. They hardly ever flower, idk if they need more light or space or feed or something.

Thanks all, guess we’ll have to wait and see! Really like those steel frames, might be useful for the Bramble taming too.

Crocosmia
Yes. Pretty certain this is it.
Like this
but far fewer flowers. -

Our crocosmias (Lucifer, I think, which although similar is I think bigger than the one in that photo) flower liberally every year and multiply like a weed, with zero attention.
Sunny position, quite poor soil, no real watering to speak of, no feeding, lots of competition from other plants. So if anything it might be a case of treat em mean, keep em keen.

Googling seems to suggest the most common reason for crocosmias not flowering is too much fertiliser (nitrogen in particular)/ too rich soil, which leads to excessive foliage growth instead of flowers, which fits with my guess

Interesting.
Both are in quite damp boarders which are near my roses and also get a lot of natural waste from leaves, fruit, bird poo, etc.
I like the foliage so just leave them there.
But it's a good illustration of plants sitting well together/not sitting well together.

Almost done here. Just need to paint that shelf, put up some trellis for the clematis to grow on, and do some general tidying up.

Used some leftovers from the big planter to make a little one over the other side of the garden

Good stuff! :)
What clematis did you get?

• #10667
Silver surfer or something. Silver star, maybe? It claimed to be hardy and tolerant and all those sorts of things that frankly stuff is going to need if it’s going to survive both in my care and in the Sheffield climate.

Cracked the Karcher out today and did the long path, steps and crazy paving. Most of this will hopefully go next year with the house extension so hopefully the last time I have to do it. Also washed the aphid jizz off the front path.
Happy with how the grass and clover has filled out with minimal mowing for the last month.

Something has eaten my hydrangeas! This has never happened before.
-
• #10673
Oh no :(
That's unusual, not many insects eat them.

The goldfinches have stripped my senecio again this year for nesting material. Not sure if they'd be interested in hydrangeas too.
Ummmmmmmm
