Right. I can forgive all the ridiculousness, but Shannon was terrible. Did enjoy it though. Made me want to watch Quicksilver again.

This film is so shit

I travelled back in time to give my 5-year-old self a copy of this to watch, but I still found the script pitched too low.

Thin script, but pretty good attention to detail. That kid from 3rd rock can skid pretty good.
At least it didn't have a bike dance-off or seduction scene.
-
• #257
just watched it, not as awful as I thought it was going to be, gordon's skids were pretty nice.
The whole fixed versus geared thing was kinda lame, but the graphics and flythroughs made me smile, but the danny macaskill section can do one...overall 6.5/7 out of ten...

pretty good attention to detail.
His bike may have been tastefully rat-ified but his gloves were brand new. That bugged me for the whole film.

Missed that... too busy with fap.
Was the kerning up to scratch?

More's the pity;

/little thingsSo he had new gloves. Why is this a contradiction?
-
• #262
everything else about his appearance was all worn in/worn out, ratty bike, bag, tshirt, everything. apart from shiny, brand spanking new gloves. two days on the road and they'd be filthy, his were not.
It is perfectly legitimate to have new gloves, yes, but seemed an oversight considering how his character/appearance was constructed.
-
• #263
no point mentioning the gloves as a character flaw, the movie was shit.
-
• #264
His pants didn't match his socks either.

this.

This could have been worse, not as bad as I thought.

It was Gleaming The Cube, but on "fixies".
I give it 3 Kevin Bacon's out of 5 Quicksilvers.
-
• #268
Saw it yesterday a couple of issues...
The Bad:
Cardboard depth characters (we can blame Holywood)
Girl fixing her wheel by tensioning one whole spoke (RLY?)
Girl doesn't get to do cool stunts like guys
Messengers looking like total knobends in traffic
Super overacted baddyThe good
Stunts not bad
Some nice bikes/outfits/tattoos
Messengers helping each other outEm...that's it.
Time to watch Quicksilver me thinks...or better wait for annoying slush/snow to go so the fixie can come out again ;)
:) -

Go and get the fixeh out now. You'll appreciate the traction in the snow and slush.

I've not looked at this before but the parents guide to the film on IMDB really sells* the story/script:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1547234/parentalguide
The violence/gore section is powerful:
'As a police officer tickets a bike messenger in a close-up, a woman in the frame is seen with a small amount of blood on her cheek and wrist and states that the cyclist was in her way.
A man's forearm is shown wrapped in a bandage from elbow to wrist in several scenes.
A bike messenger sees himself bump against a man in a crosswalk, who falls under a moving bus and is crushed (we see no blood).
A man stabs a pencil into an apple in close-up and he punches a bathroom mirror, but it does not break.
Campus security guards shout at students on cycles to watch what they're doing.
In a public park, police shout at cyclists to get off the paved paths.
A male bike messenger tells a woman that another male messenger has a death wish and is mentally unstable. A bike messenger says, "Brakes are death."
*gives the depth of script away - paper thin

i hope you were looking at the parent's section to see if you could show it to your class!

It passed an hour or so on the flight to Vegas before Christmas last year, was ok but I didn't exactly have a lot else to do

sorry to drag up this thread but i watched this last night. This is actually a very good film. As a lover of quiksilver i have to concede that PR is a much better depiction of cycling - well researched, no stupid switching from fixed to freewheel like in QS. I also liked how they repeatedly say that riding brakeless is a bit stupid - the brakes are death bit was a tad lame IMO.

Caught this yesterday. What a piece of shit!
"Brakes are death" Cringe! Haha
Had high hopes for Michael Shannon in this, but he was utterly awful. Plot - pretty lazy, but pretty fun all the same.
Second time at the cinema in London, and christ are the prices high compared to home.
