Some requests for a longer rides have been made.

I ll see what I can do . Once we set out for Matching Green it would not be a problem for the group to split into longer and shorter groups with a meet up @ Matching Green or Ashlyn's Farm. However, the other rides is going to need a leader and that leader needs to know the area . Happy to discuss further ....

The Joy of Essex- Saturday 16th of October

A  sore ankle and the Cycle Show means I am running this ride a few weeks  later than planned; see earlier threads.

**The Joy of Essex,

This is a trip to the Essex Country side and back, leaving Walthamstow @ 9.00 am and then heading out through Epping Forest. Once past Epping and N Weald we hit the empty lanes of the N Essex country side so you can discover the joys of cycling in Essex. It’s not all furry dice, white socks and white stilettos.

The route will be fixed /single speed friendly , done at a steady pace with no one getting dropped or lost,

Its especially suitable for some one wanting to start to do longer rides and who’d like to find out how to ride out from East London to the Essex Lanes. There will be a stop at the famous High Beach tea hut and lunch at Ashlyn’s farm on the return leg. The turn around point will probably be Matching Green. We should be back by 2 pm. The early start is necessary so we can clear the morning rush in Woodford.

This was fun last year, doing ROTL on Sunday so I'll have to save my legs for that. Have a good one!

Same as last years version, out through Woodford to the Epping New Road. Turn left at the Robin Hood roundabout and into the forest and up to High Beach (sic ) for the 1st tea stop.

Then on through the forest and back onto the Epping New Road to Epping. After Epping , turn Right to North Weald, past the aerodrome and up to the Talbot roundabout;basically the DD route with a detour to High Beach

After that we dive into the Essex Lanes and ride up to Matching Green, its there that we turn around and ride back down Ashlyn's farm for lunch. After that its home to Walthamstow via the same way. If you want we can finish @ the Nags Head in the Village .

That was a nice ride last year. I liked the place we stopped at for lunch that had a shop with local ales and ciders and a butchers. I missed out on getting meat, but if we hit that place again, I'm packing steaks home.

I got the all clear to get back on my bike today (hooray), but with strict instructions not to do overdo it (boo, hiss). So what I was considering... if its okay with everyone... was to attempt to accompany you up to the first stop (High Beach) and then make my way back.

Would that be okay?
