"open morning" during the busiest possible time?

means that they will get the largest possible audience, people around to get them involved..
-
• #304
Maybe not if they want track cyclists involved...

Time to put hands in pockets, people... I've just turned my pledge into a hard cash donation...
-
• #306
I can't believe this hasn't been posted elsewhere but I couldn't find a definitive Herne Hill thread.

Amazing photos. We cannot lose the place.
My pledge is now hard cash, donation made.

Incorrect reporting.
Only the track surface and track fence is being replaced. Everything else remains derelict and without funding.I would only donate money if I knew it would be used for the good of the velorome's users. At this stage there is no evidence to suggest the STV campaign or the HHVT is listening to them.

Some good news, looks like Southwark Council have allocated £400k towards the redevelopment costs:

good news.
it looks like it's going on facilities that are needed rather than an overpriced architects folly. -

smyth, get off your carping high horse, where do you think those facilities are going to be housed?
It has been stated a couple of times, that the design that was produced was a what if? to create interest and is in no way the final design/structure/layout.I'd rather the facilities that are used at Herne Hill be housed in something that was aesthetically pleasing, didn't cost the earth and would reflect the setting and heritage of the sight (can you tell I watch too much grand designs). If you don't like or agree with what is to be built, and as no final plans have ever been put out for consultation, or been funded, you can always get involved and shove your tuppence in, in terms of how it should look and feel, and what it should do, and who it should be catered for.
Until such a time....
Long way to go, and glad some funding has been released to further cement the ongoing future of herne hill..

get fucked. i'll freely speak my mind as can anyone else thanks.
seeing as BC have effective control of the site for 3 years and the track for 15(needs confirming) then hopefully they will have a plan for a lo-cost implementation of what's important, (toilets/changing room/storage etc) do you think the 400k should sit there until it's 4million?
be interesting to see where that money is going and who is in charge of allocating it.
it would be a shame if the money was frittered away in the same way as the london velodrome trust did a few years ago*
*not the same as the HH velodrome trust.
have a read of this link. sound familiar? now look at the date.

No one minds you speaking your mind, it's the fact that whenever you speak it, you say exactly the same thing in exactly the same way.
We all want herne hill to survive and thrive, you bitching and whining about what the facilities may or may not look like when they are eventually built, just deflects attention away from the work thats been done and still has to be done.I'm pretty sure whenever the next statement re: good or bad about the velodrome occurs you'll roll out the same view again, it's knee jerk, reactionary, and despite the fact that the people who read this thread, know your point of view, you feel the need once more to batter us over the head with it.
Okay we get it, you don't want an over engineered pretty looking building that caters to the local population of herne hill, but something that cyclists really want to use, and can actually get to use. So since we know your point of view find something new to say, or say nothing at all, or god forbid, actually engage with the process and try to make it better, rather than flinging darts from the outside..
I'm pretty sure you'll stay with the dart flinging...

it's not a knee jerk reaction, it's a consolidated opinion.
my views are as valid as anyone elses even if they are contrary.
you are not a moderator on this forum or an arbiter of opinion so please refrain from telling people what to think and do. and who is 'we'? are you representing HH velodrome trust here? or is it the royal we?
(do you get it now in the polite way or shall i tell you fuck off again?)
as for engaging with the process i'll do that in whatever way i see fit, be they through conventional channels (that are largely ignored) of by having an opinion on this or any other thread and as for saying exactly the same thing? i'll say whatever i think is necessary as the situation is fluid and changing.as i said before it will be interesting to see the HHVT opinion on where this initial 400k is going?
or am i not allowed to think or say that? -

I use the we of us who ride bikes, at herne hill and elsewhere and want it to be a facility that I(we) can use long into the future..
You can tell me to fuck off as many times as you like, if it makes you feel better, but we've both been on here long enough to know I'm as much a moderator as you are, which is to say not at all. I'm personally tired of you reiterating the same things over and over, and took my personal freedom on here to tell you so, now if you took issue with that, well you know (insert gallic shrug here)
That article from 2003, yeah long time ago, lots of goodwill, no end product, but we're in the run up to the olympics in 2012, and from what I can see and read on how money is being allocated, there has to be an end product, there has to be a legacy. If after the games come and go, and we're in the same position this time in 2014, and I'm still actively using this forum, I'll hold up my hand and say you know what, MrSmyth he sure was right, he had it nailed bang on..
until such a time, within the robustness of the community we both inhabit, I'll take my personal opinion and tell you to quiet your buzz.
if you don't like that, then well you know, you can tell me to fuck off or something like that, you know

most people want that me included. as do people who have never heard of LFGSS.

it's not about me feeling better, it's about me not being told what i can say and when to say it.

'gallic shrug'.
i'll keep reiterating whatever i want if it's a means of finding out how public or charity money is administered on a community cycling facilityThat article from 2003, yeah long time ago, lots of goodwill, no end product, but we're in the run up to the olympics in 2012, and from what I can see and read on how money is being allocated, there has to be an end product, there has to be a legacy. you know how the money is being allocated? please expand on that so the "community" can be informed.
i'm not saying that the same situation as 2006 is going to play out again, i would like the exact opposite to happen, this needs transparency and openness for it to be different this time round.
until such a time, within the robustness of the community we both inhabit, I'll take my personal opinion and tell you to quiet your buzz.
"gallic shrug"

I have just looked at the Save Herne Hill group on Linked-In. Until I posted a link to the donation page earlier today, nothing had been posted there for 11 months. This was a disappointment. Surely Linked-In users are more likely than many to have a few spare quid to Gift Aid.

• #320
maybe. lots of ppl on linked in are looking for a new job so may be (f)unemployed.

I am but was still able to donate.

My favourite is page 286 and Phil the Greek with Harry Potter on 296.

That's Jose Bayaert, who won the road race. Matt Rendell wrote a brilliant book about his, frankly, amazing life story.

See below for contact details and more info.
HERNE HILL VELODROME TRUST
TRUSTEES REQUIRED
Now that we are moving in to stage 2 of our campaign, work can begin on a business plan, recruitment of Trustees and the start of consultation towards designing a project to submit to planning authorities. It’s this work and the help we need to deliver it which will take the greatest amount of support from Velodrome users, local residents, stakeholders and supporters from across the South East, so if you can get involved, please do. There will be an open morning at the Velodrome on Saturday 4 June from 10am until 12am when anyone thinking of putting themselves forward as a potential Trustee can see the site and talk to users and the members of the campaign. In particular we are looking for an accountant to enable us to properly keep track of our finances. We also need a Treasurer for the Trust as well as a charity officer to help with funding applications, plus someone with expertise to help with events, fundraising and setting up a museum in the run up to the Olympics in 2012. We also need an administration officer to help with managing all the exciting things going on.
These are all vital roles which will bring you to the heart of a project which has already achieved high level support. If you think you can help us deliver our vision for a cycling future in Herne Hill, please contact Hillary at: hillary@savethevelodrome.com
If you would like to apply to become a Trustee of The Herne Hill Velodrome Trust, you can download an application form at:
