  • A way to increase facebook awareness would be to create ads and target them at people in London with 'cycling' or 'track cycling' in their interests, its very cost effective and would be quite cheap per click. Its quite broad but I think it would generate a much bigger online profile.

Although there is no working capitol for it, if 100 people chipped £1 into the pot it could create a very effective campaign.

I wont be able to attend the meeting as I will still be in Glasgow.

  • Stick a polo court in the middle, then all the fixie hipster activities can be accommodated in one place

I think you'll find most polo players arent riding fixies.

But yeah, the LHBPA needs a dedicated court. Rapidly expanding sport in London. The centre of the HH track would be a good spot, if it is to be pushed as a multi-disciplinary venue.

There's a LHBPA courts meeting the night before, some people will be at the meeting in Dulwich to contribute.

  • Ah, I wondered when he'd get that together. Pretty good isn't it.

The guy walking across the track right at the beginning looks like a cool dude.

    Thats nice. Whens it from?

  • It was that bloke who was periodically turning up to film recently, he must have turned up 3 or 4 times over august/sept

  • Nice film that...

  • I can't make the meeting due to prior commitments. And I can't sign the facebook petition due to not being on Facebook.

But if someone has a poster of that Save Herne Hill logo thing then I will gladly put it on the LFGSS stand at the Cycle Show to make people aware of it.

Cheers - while the public meeting is the day before the cycle show starts its still going to be largely about awareness, so posters can only be a good thing. Shame I think there are only very limited numbers of flyers and soon to be stickers otherwise we could've put a couple of boxes your way too.

  • I dropped the rest of my flyers and postcards into the office today, a fair stack. I guess more could be made.

  • This how keen I am to save the velodrome; I turned up for the fucking meeting today.

  • How many people were there, Jenny? I think this could be a good indicator of how many will turn out for the real one next week

  • Oh Jenny.

  • Can someone tell me where I the Great Hall at Dulwich College is? I will be coming down from North London and when I was a kid growing up in Camberwell, Dulwich Village was just a place where the posh people lived

    Zeb

  • It's right next to the college entrance on College Road, go up towards the pay toll / boarding house bit and you've gone too far... it's nearer towards the crossroads. Here ish

[I won a chess tournament in that room, aged 6. I spent most of the day in awe of the ceiling, and the fact that they've got Shackleton's boat from the Antarctic exploration, where normally I'd just be eating sweets]

  • would you go in at the gates on Dulwich Common road?

  • S'got gates on three sides if I remember rightly. Besides, wander around there for too long and a prefect will come along and threaten you with detention / fagging.

  • One of my old school mates went there before he got expelled and sent to Pimlico Comp... Seems like they used to have a wild old time back in the early 80s...

  • The BBC were filming last night (lots of local people took their kids) and I'm pretty sure Newsround is coming to film on Monday, as it was horribly wet last night. Either me or Mr whitehel (stanmawr) will be at the meeting on Wed. And at the track with the kids on Monday.

  • thought a ride out would be a great idea, can somone from rollapaluza gimme a shout about maybe doing some spoke cards etc?

  • I'll try to make it, not sure available I'll be though.

I'm also trying to get my mother inlaw to come too as she should be quite a help.

She has an alotment on rosedale road which is also leased by dulwich estates. A year or so ago the alotment users had a similar trouble with not being able to get a decent length lease. I think dulwich estates kept giving them 5 year leases and then they tried to up the rent by 500%, something like that. Also there was some business with a trustee of the alotments also being a trustee of dulwich estates screwing things up.

eventually they managed to sort it all out, including a 21 year lease and reasonable rent, by using a rather good lawyer. Though this still took over a year to do. I think alotment users getting a lawyer rather shocked them!

She is quite interested and local and I'll try and get her along.

  • The window graphic in the new Pizza Express looks a lot like the "Save the Velodrome" campaign graphic to me.

Are they on-board with the campaign? Is a Sloppy Guiseppe good race food and does Parmesan really taste like Clenbuterol?

There are already some postcards done - stick 2 together and laminate, hey presto...
