  • There was an old dmr frame on retrobike for 30 squid posted i think. thats good value for money.

  • Halfords has some insane deals on DMR's at the moment, mostly old stock - the wandsworth branch had/has a Sidekick at half price recently

  • wow so much great advice - definitely want steel, and know what I can get for my money now - Object, would love to have a go on your NS Maj, are you around Grobag Towers this weekend? it's basically the pricier version of the Suburban, which is the frame I am leaning towards at the moment.

  • Not likely to be around the wick this weekend, though if you can make it to Polo on Sunday you can have a go.

  • anyone have an opinion on the DMR sidekick?

other than the saddle it ticks all my boxes and ive found a brand new one for just over £500.

would really like a test ride of one though...

  • "dream" street? twofortythree is what i'd try to go with. but there are tons of others out there.

if i was trying to get away without breaking bank, i'd just get a nice specialized P series. they're nice.

  • Fuck 24" wheels.

    Fuck 26" wheels.

  • so what street and jump type stuff do you do on that unwieldy thing?

  • Cough.

Curtis SX24, but I would say that:

You can get SS specific frame also.

    Bastard.

  • I'm a bit late for the argument but DJ bikes is pretty much my favorite subject for the past month,
been doing loads of research on frames/components. NS and Mutant bikes are the way to go, at least in Europe.
Quality/price relation gets you something very very nice.
BTW, as I'm building myself a 26" FixedMTB (fixed/free), the search for components led me to:

    • Rims: SunRingle MTX33 (welded, not sleeved. Stronger than Atomlab).
All my other parts are budget, from the forum or ebay, some from DJ specific bikes.
@OP Take a look at Litegallery, that's where I've found some of the most amazing DJ builds.

Just look at this ; D

  • ^Nuknow, have you looked at halo rims/wheels, they are really excellent for the money

  • I know, been there. If only ChainRreaction didn't have such good proices I would have snatched Halo combat. Got them (Sun MTX 33) in 36hls, black and welded for £39 a pop, free shipping. Win.

Here it is, waiting to be laced

  • Wow, good deal

  • this with a disk on the back and maybe sus Is my idea of the perfect Dj Bike.
Currently riding an 08 slacker ss which I wont be changing for a while.

  • I disagree, the transition isn't too bad weight wise and can be had for less than the 950ish RRP from the usual suspects.

Just not my cup of tea to be honest. I've just always thought that DMR made ugly bikes

  • Yeti DJ? http://www.yeticycles.com/#/bikes/DJ/1/

Second hand frames come up on ebay for around £250-300

  • oooh yeti.. want

  • you can pick up a used charge stove complete sub 200 bills. perfect for taller riders as its 26" with a 15.5 st and 22 tt.

    i love mine

You didn't come across any 48h rims or hubs did you ?

I'm finding it hard to find any for 26".

  • That Yeti is pure lust.

I have an old downhiller, that i have been looking to canabalise the parts off onto a cheap jump frame for a while now.

  • so what street and jump type stuff do you do on that unwieldy thing?

    Big ones.

48hls hubs you can get them fixed, cheapish (tricksters). Formula?
Rims I have no idea. The fact it's 26" will be way stronger with 36hls.

    Where? I want one.

They're for polo so I'm not so worried about the strength, more the number of spokes to prevent the ball going through.

Think 36's may suffice and they'll be a lot easier to get hold of.
