I don't think people are looking at it the wrong way. I think people understand the reasons for Good Friday moving to Manchester, and support the meetings continuation in any form.
However, people also identify the completely different feel to watching an outdoor track meeting, on a nice day, with space to wander round, large bunches and an informal atmosphere. The same reasons that have kept this meeting going for 100 years.
Agree 100%. I support the Manchester GF meeting in my head and understand why it's moving there, but my heart (and body!) will support any event on the day at HH. It's too important an occasion not to stage a 'party' event. Maybe along the lines of the Goodwood Revival - 40's fancy dress anyone?!

Lee, I can understand why they would move first class track racing to Manchester and then to Stratford. Both events need support and will almost certainly get it. I am not, however, driving to Manchester on Good Friday, one of the worst driving days of the year, to watch and going by train is prohibitively expensive and one then has to cross Manchester to get to the velodrome all on a public holiday schedule. I would much prefer to cycle down to Herne Hill and watch a lesser class of racing and, if it rains, disappear to the pub with mates.
So it's OK for them to drive down the motorway and across London etc..
I presume that organising a coach from HH to Manc on Thursday night to a hotel, ferry to the track the next day and then either home or another night in the hotel with the riders is a non starter then. -

But they do have world cup, world champs, national champs, revolution...
won't this give more people more chance to see more bikes racing?
