  • don't think that's available on their 'sponsorship' thing:

I'm pretty sure you used to be able to get pretty much whatever you wanted on it, but it seems like they've heavily limited the options now.

  • oh, unless you're talke F&F only

  • Yes, just frameset. It was on the list last time I checked.

BTW Rose match Canyon on a license discount and crash-replacement discount, but only list their carbon frames for 'sponsorship'. The rose would be easier to find a long -17 stem for.

  • Or you could just buy a bike that fits? ;)

  • (I think) only Cannondale makes frames that fit that are't aero (and therefore on-trend and massively expensive).

Open to ideas though. Find me a 570mm tt, 160mm headtube, budget £600 for the frameset. GO!

  • CAAD 10 frameset is £799! That is pricey ..

Used CAAD10 bike/frame from last year? You wont be able to Di2 though ..

  • I want to get 5 years minimum out of it. I'd probably not go for used.

Yeah 800 for 'dale frameset vs a Rose or Canyon (which both come with decent Richey post, headset, stem) is a no-brainer.

I can do two out of three?

  • You need a custom Talbot

    ftfy

    Nearly.....

  • Dunno whether it is a factor but those Ridleys are fucking hideous

  • I think Miro_o knows what he has to do.

  • The black ano Aithein seems pretty ace. It matches the Canyon in fit. It's a bit different and kinda british which I like.

However... it'd still come out more expensive (no headset or post made from science-fibres included). 3 instead of 6 years warranty and no crash replacement scheme AFAIK. And if I'm honest I really do not like the corporate-surfshop graphics!

I always thought those Ridleys were TT frames. That would allow me you use a 'normal' stem but at the cost of having to then own and ride it in the knowledge that it's my bike ;-)

  • tl:dr

Turns out some fairly shallow factors are at play when choosing a new frame!

  • Why not the Scott Foil you've posted earlier?

  • It's a killer deal but those are 2013 frames (external battery). I think it might be possible to equal that with a newer setup next spring. Maybe.

  • not worth it; try and get internal set up from the start.

    kinesis ≠ british

    Totally.

My love of aero frames isnt down to any belief I'd go faster. Its because they look really fast, and tend to be uber stiff. Its all about looking and feeling fast.

Having said that. I cant find many with a 530mm ETT, and 110mm headtube. I can size down and run a 110mm stem. But the angles go nuts, and its starts looking shit.

  • Hey guys.

A bus recently smashed the fucking granny out of my Cannondale CAAD7 with me atop, and in my recovery time I've been thinking about what to save for years in order to replace it with. Very drawn to Canyons.. Not sure why, don't really care either - I just like em. Maybe it's cos Nairo Q is a fucking don

Canyon Ultimate AL 9.0 2014 - good? Who's got one? Is likely to get fairly abused because I'm a uni student and I like abusing things. Never bought OTP (in fact, this will only be my second road bike). Should I save up more and get an Ultimate CF? Comes with 105 instead of Ultegra, don't really know how much of a difference that's gonna make to my actual life

    Thanks for advicingz

  • What size are you? I may be selling an Ultimate Al XL with Ultegra.

  • 6"1', the Cad was 57/58 ish I think (funny CDale sizing)

I think I'm gonna get it on my sister's Cycle 2 Work scheme as they effectively offer interest free finance up to 1k, gonna pay the rest off in one go when I have the ched

That, however, is quite a nang bike you have there

  • Cant do canyon on C2W i thought?

  • Correct!

  • It doesn't work in the normal way there (it's internal), she works at a spread betting firm and her male peers are far too MAMIL'y to get their bikes from Hellfrauds. Basically I get a written quote from any retailer (perhaps in this case an email) and the company finances the first G, I pay the difference upfront and pay the G back over 12 months (well, my sister does).

I.e. I can pretty much get anything
