So I bought an Aeroad SLX frameset from Canyon earlier in the year and received it in August. Unfortunately it arrived cracked, but Canyon were excellent in find me a replacement and I had another a week later.
However, a month after that I went to try the "rake adjust" for the front fork. Flipped the insert over and found it doesn't fit properly. See photo below.
Contacted Canyon about it and they asked me to send the fork to them to inspect, which I did. They inspected and concluded its fucked, and they will get me another.
It takes them a month to find a new one, meanwhile the bike is in pieces and unrideable. I receive a new one, and hey ho, it has the exact same problem, insert does not sit in the dropout properly.
I informed Canyon and they say the will have to launch an investigation into their Quality Management. Clearly all the forks they are making are fucked. It's been nearly two months since they sent me the newer just as fucked fork and I'm still waiting around.
I'm very peeved off with them. I chase them up every few weeks basically to be told "Germany are looking into it, I will let you know as soon as..." blah blah.
What am I supposed to do, wait forever? What about the fact that I've dropped two grand on a frameset and have been waiting around for three months while they try and find me a fork that isn't defective. Surely they owe me something for all this hassle? I'm in half a mind to strip the bike down and send it back.
Arrgghh. Rant over....

has anyone ever bought a bike from Canyon and not had problems with it somewhere along the way?
-
• #1565
^ Oooh me! But that was almost 7 years ago now so not really a good benchmark

My Ultimate took ages to arrive but has been perfect. In hindsight I bought too large a size and have actually been hoping for an issue so I could size down, but 2 years on it's still going strong.

Unusurprisingly, some other manufacturer have similar issues and timeline as your.

Does the fork work fine with the insert in the "normal" position? Can you just ask for the OG fork back and a replacement when it's available?

They've clearly had their issues but personally I have bought a frame and two bikes from them in the last 4 years (not all for me!). All arrived quicker than advertised/expected and have been excellent. Somehow my own carbon frame has even survived being hit by cars twice.
In the same time I've had a problematic Cannondale and cracked a titanium frame - swings and roundabouts I guess..

Yeah its fine in "agile". Problem is I've had a couple of very scary moments on descents with cross winds. The steering is much twitchier than my Look. Anyways, I want a fork that works as advertised.

Bought an ultiate cf slx a couple of years ago now and still never had any issue with it

strip the bike down and send it back
This is the answer

This is like par for the course with both of those things.
(bit unfair on Cannondale - the road stuff is pretty reliable if you can keep a BB clean. If it was one of their MTBs all bets are off)

Have you actually been able to try the fork in the stable configuration? Because I can't imagine that wiget will actually make a huge difference in handling
Drools over keyboard.
