  • Fair enough. Your Turbo set up does it take through axle, if so what is it?

  • Old Kickr for training at home, Feedback Sports Omnium for warmups.

Has some adapters so may well take though axle. Got a decent deal on ebay last year, love it, so much better just swapping out the front wheel to race, folds up small etc. Now I've worked out how to get my warmup onto the Elemnt I think my pre-race setup is optimal.

  • Yeah looked good. My warm up lacked structure probably more of a mental hindrance than physical mind haha

  • I think maybe emulating longer climbs for pacing strategy might be useful, but not so valuable for shorter ones, where road surface, traction, and throwing your bike around is more important.

Then again, if you train to push out 450w over 5 minutes on the turbo, you’ll hopefully be smashing out even more on the climbs.

  • I know I don't perform as well if I rush my warmup or mess it up somehow. Didn't like last week as there was a turbo ban.

Think the warmup is as much about a process you always follow that mentally prepares you as it is getting the blood pumping.

  • So not really been on LFGSS for years, though was a mega regular back in the day, but I think I might have been in the same carpark as DBR and Goat at Leith on the lugged steel Kona.

  • Welcome back!

  • Indeed! Where are the results!!!!????
Also any idea what the rider action was??

  • No idea what's going on with the results, wonder if it's the barney about someone breaking the regs?

  • Hi folks,

I am down for a couple of upcoming hill climbs and curious to know what the protocol is this year.

Are you held upright by a starter, and do riders hang around to mingle/cheer/etc before and after like the good 'ol days?

    Cheers
    Robb

  • Are you held upright by a starter, and do riders hang around to mingle/cheer/etc before and after like the good 'ol days?

Dunno about HCs, but there has been no holding in regular TTs, and instructions to avoid mingling. The TT/HC itself is a sporting event which can have covid-secure procedures, spectating or mixing around the HQ looks more like an illegal social gathering.

  • Fair enough, that's how I thought it would be. Seems sensible given the situation. Thanks @gbj_tester

  • So the Leith Results are up now,

    So I ended up with
    Saturday - Leith Hill - 43 of 88
    Sunday - Knight Hill Goodwood - 37 of 59

Based on the Strava power estimates both were about on money for my power bests indoor over those time frames so probably couldn't have done a load better. Really need to sort an proper power meter I can use outdoors.

So first ever hill climbs/TT/road race so could have gone a load worse.

  • Well done.
Beat me I was 56/88 at Leith.
    Where you racing next?

  • I've got Steyning Bostal Sussex CA on the 3rd October entered(which I can ride to from my house)

Will almost certainly do the Brighton Mitre double header on the Bostal and Mill Hill on 10th.

Then torn between Firle Beacon and/0r Ranmore Common or 25 Mile TT or a week off the following weekend.

  • Ranmore Common

Kingston Phoenix? It’s cancelled. Was looking forward to having a pop at that one.

  • HCs should be ok then

Adults can continue to take part in outdoor organised sport and licensed physical outdoor activity in groups of more than six, provided it is organised by a national governing body, club, registered instructor/coach, business or charity; and/or involve someone who has received an official license to use equipment relevant to the activity. In all cases, the organiser must conduct a risk assessment and ensure compliance with COVID-19 Secure guidance.

  • You're right, that's removed that option then!

This is the same day but know nothing about that climb.

  • That’s what I’ll be racing. Did it two weeks ago promoted by CC Basingstoke. It’s similar to Knights Hill - short shallow section, steep bit then a long drag to the finish. The steep section is a bit longer and steeper than Knights. Not a classic hill, and not really hard, but a good race all the same.

I used a 52t on Knights Hill (with that tailwind) but didn’t feel like I ran out of gears with a 40t on Brockham Hill Lane (Farham RC course).

  • I’m told Bec is off by a mate who was due to ride.

  • Guess Catford is unlikely then...?

  • Would be a shame if Catford gets cancelled

  • Here’s the statement re Bec.

You’d think one would follow the other :/

  • Catford Cancelled as well.
Anyone know the status on Brighton Mitre?

  • Wigmore start sheet no longer showing for me, cancellation coming??
