  • Not sure what to do about the sticker, I want to keep it for posterity (and/or moneys when he gets really famous) but it does detract from the proper decals' aesthetic. Also, the colour is so crazily blue in person, it's almost got that TVR colour-changing property to it, so it's staying untouched. Need to clean off some tape residue/give the whole thing a good clean before preceding to ride it all winter though.

  • Might want to consider wrapping your lock in something very soft as dolan paint falls off if you look at it to hard.
    Looks like lovely though

  • Cheers for the advice Sam, will probably get some foam for my d-lock, not sure what I could do with my spiral though?

Also, it's fully built up now, will try and take some pics later if I can get the light right in my front room.

  • Later? NOWWWW!

  • Aha, patience is a virtue.

  • Go on then, one shot for good measure (taken in the studio/the inauspicious surroundings of our entrance hallway)...

  • It's a shame the chain length meant I couldn't have it totally slammed, but is still a good inch and a half tighter than the Holdsworth! Rides so differently, the frame is so much stiffer, but the carbon forks just soften everything up, it's quite amazing how much smoother it feels. Might need to get a shorter stem though as a concession to my ever-present HTFU/lifetime of back problems dilemma.

  • Black chainset

    EDIT:

Other than that, it looks awesome. Need to meet up for beers soon! Is the stem 1" threadless? If not I have a 60mm 1 1/8 stem if you fancy it.

  • Not sure about the black, I think the silver makes sense with the silver hubs, having the black chainset might isolate them a bit, but it would look good. The stem is 1 1/8 and I've just got a shim, however it is a 25.4 clamp, is yours? Or is it oversize 31.8? If the former I'll definitely try it out. Yeah, beer soon for sure, I'll drop you a text in a min.

  • Ah good point, it's OS but I do have some Deda Pista bars that'll fit it.

  • Ah they're way too much drop for me, they look awesome, but they'd be totally unrideable! I've kind of gotten used to my weird narrow shallow set up now, plus if it comes to it I can a get a new Deda Logo stem for only like 15 quid on Wiggle, and that comes in all sorts of sizes.

  • Got a few stems knocking about that your welcome to try out to get the reach right.

  • Cool, I've found one on ebay that's 70mm, but not sure of the angle, so I'll let you know if/when they get back to me. It's only 8 quid, so if it's got any kind of rise I'll probably just buy that.

  • why not flip the existing stem for now? That should give you a slightly more upright riding position

  • Yeah, I tried that, but as it's +/- 12 deg it's quite an extreme rise, and anyway, it's more the reach length rather than the height that I need to change. Bah.

On another note, I thought I was going to have to buy a new bottom bracket to get the chainline perfect, but the bb that's in there is an old Miche Pista with independent cup movement on both the fixed and the free sides, so I should get a few mm in that way, which is pretty cool.

  • I'll dig out the stems I have tomorrow evening and let you know what sizes I have.

  • Cool, cheers Sam.

  • So the guy that sold me the frame rejected my feedback about the wrong sizing and reported me to eBay for making things up, calling my knowledge of bikes that of a novice in the process...

Safe to say I've just absolutely destroyed him - I provided a logical argument, gave extensive photographic evidence, and provided external sources detailing the correct labeling of a frame's tubes, all wrapped up in a calm, but intentionally intelligent, rhetoric. Can't wait to hear what he has to say in response to his schooling. I've got no right to be this happy about it, but I just love that for once I knew I was right and got to comprehensively prove it. This is how I imagine having the perfect comeback would feel if you got to say it in the heat of the moment, rather than thinking of it a day later!

  • Talking about beers: Norwich Beers is well overdue. Cmon lads, lets get something sorted!

  • Any pubs in mind? I quite like the York or the garden house.. Well up for it.

  • Never been to either, so well up for trying somewhere new :)

In the past we've met closer to "this" side of the city at pubs like The Plasterers, The Kings Head on Magdalen St, The Rumsey Wells ..

Have bike, will travel. So I'm happy to meet wherever really

  • Garden House is a stone's throw from my front door, and one of the barmen rides a singlespeed! It's a nice pub, often visited by Dion Dublin for any football fans out there.

  • I'm up for Norwich beers in theory but so skint at the minute.

  • ditto

  • Garden House is 3 minutes from mine, keen for Norwich Beers!
