The ones you got from Go Outdoors? I nearly bought some the other day but I'm holding out until payday.
In other news, I rode in in my Elka jacket today and it was pretty comfortable. It's 100% waterproof with welded seams so I thought it'd be far too warm to ride in and pretty much wrote it off, I decided to give it a go before I shelled out on a new one but I think for winter it'll be perfect.
It has a detachable (and elasticated which is handy) hood, vertical chest pocket for my phone and a drawstring waist which stops it riding up. Three air vents on the back kept me relatively cool for a 100% waterproof jacket.
1 item of 'commuter gear' down!

Pro-tip; take your gloves off to operate the padlock, put your bike away, then stick them in your pockets after you've locked. The walk from the bike sheds to recpetion is just long enough to get a bit of blood flowing again = no more prickly heat! Works for me anyway, and my hands go numb every morning.

@Rikki Elka jackets look niiiiiiiiice!!
I'm thinking perhaps if I didn't wear my "riding" stuff to commute that maybe I'd ride a bit slower to work and not fall off!!
Rikki, if you get cold hands i'd go for the deep winter ones as I got the all weather ones and they're not toasty toasty!
p.s Just got the gloves replaced by Go Outdoors no questions asked

I'll remember that for when I've got some. I had to wait for someone (Dave) to let me in to the sheds today as I couldn't get the lock open aha
@hudsoncjnr I think I'll go for the all-weather ones (I think they were the ones) they have in there. I want something a bit thinner/tighter, can't stand cumbersome gloves!
Elkas are lovely, the only issue with them, as with most 100% waterproof jackets, is that water runs right off them and on to whatever else you're wearing, I learned this the hard way when I wore mine with some khaki chinos

I've got the non-cycling all season Sealskins too, and they're really not very warm for me. Pretty good at keeping out rain (to a degree) but they don't transfer heat very well at all - my £1 fleece gloves from Tesco under my summer mitts is genuinely a warmer way to go if it's dry. If you can get them for a reasonable price I'd go for it, as they are good in moderately bad weather, but I feel a bit cheated out of the £35 I spent in Cotswold Outdoor.

These were the other ones I looked at http://gooutdoors.co.uk/sealskinz-windproof-gloves-p321968
I'm wondering how they'd get on just nipping in to town etc

I got them to price match wiggle on the gloves I got, meant they were about £18 instead of the £36 they had them on the shelf for!

Oh nice, I may have a look online then.
EDIT
Just popped to Evans for a gander and came back with these http://www.evanscycles.com/products/altura/progel-waterproof-glove-ec067140?country=GB¤cy=GBP&gclid=CKDBtN79ysICFSnkwgod2AUAqQ&gclsrc=aw.ds
I mainly went for them as they are really tight and habe a lot of padding. Hoping they'll be lovely and warm too, I'll update after the ride home later

I await the review after it pisses it down! ;-)

Road bike is being built.........

• #1437
Is that what you were chatting about with Matt today? What specs?
-
• #1438
Yeah it was.
Concorde Squadra with Campagnolo Chorus 11spd, Campagnolo Zonda wheelset and Cinelli finishing kit
-
• #1439
Sounds nice that does! Theres a concorde at uni that someone ruined. Turned it from geared to single speed, but it has one of those awful tensioners.

Wish I'd never bothered to convert my Caminada now!
Ah well, it's now an ideal commuter!
-
• #1441
Nah, i reckon you'll still ride fixed. I rode my geared a few times over the holidays, got on the bike today and really enjoyed it. And hey, if you got the space and the ability to have more than why bike, why not? ;)

Haha!!
Dangerous having a garage, I reckon there's room for 10+ in there!
-
• #1443
Get another garage built, then you can have both cars and bikes? Sounds good, yeah?
-
• #1444
As long as he doesn't buy another Rover!
-
• #1445
My opinion depends on Range or Land Rover, assuming that's what you meant!
-
• #1446
Very funny Rikki...I dont think I'd be able to decide on what car to buy these days!
-
• #1447
Nope, I meant MG Rover.
Get a Beemer, you know you want one
-
• #1448
I'm trying to persuade Vix that's what we should change the Mini Cooper for but we've only had it six months!
I don't really want a car, I'll get fat!
-
• #1449
Do it! Think I've finally managed to convince Sarah to go for a 325 tourer for our next one. That or an a4 estate
-
• #1450
Best for the dog, obviously!!
I'd probably go for a tourer just because I prefer the look of them!
Sealskinz ftw!
Though I need to take mine back and get them replaced as the fastener is coming apart!
