  • Option 1 is kidney punch

  • Ok. Two options are available.
    Hang back or overtake.
    It's so easy.
Riding an inch from my wheel is not one of those options.
Hidden option no.3 is fuck off to mythical mamil-land where you can cycle like that all day long.

    YU no drop him? HTFU.

  • Hidden option no.3 is fuck off to mythical mamil-land where you can cycle like that all day long.

    "Epic" Sportives are not mythical.

  • I watched a guy who had blatantly either never ridden fixed, or had just taken his brakes off, crash into a moving car and then into pedestrians on the pavement going down Park Street in Bristol yesterday. People are fucking idiots.

  • Park Street is a great choice for your first road to ride fixed

  • I'm pretty sure it was Park Street I saw a guy skateboard down the other day while wandering through Bristol.

    Bit terrifying.

  • Saw dome dozy mare this morning weaving around the bus lane on Park Lane on two flat tyres whilst texting on her phone.

  • I just saw a guy using FaceTime whilst simultaneously trying to negotiate the traffic on Parliament Square. To compound the danger of situation, both of his tires were almost completely flat..

  • Quite a few people in Islington riding fixies with no form of foot retention. I'm back in the area after a three year absence. Is this a new trend? Are there benefits? Should I be doing it?
I was slightly relieved to note that all the perps had a front brake at least

  • sweet endos innit

  • I always go past a locked Charge plug at the top of Hampstead with neither brake or retention. I just want to wait for the owner to inspect them for lack of brain/limb.

  • Is that a freewheel or fixed? I am seeing more and more front brake only freewheel out there...

  • coaster braks?

  • nah... maybe some of them, but some certain are just a normal freewheel bike...

  • Front brake only geared roadie is the best I've seen. Or did I miss something? Didn't hang around him, just in case.

  • Should I check what's going on behind when attempting to overtake or pull in, also should I indicate if I want to turn left or right? Or is the thing to not bother and to leave others guessing my next move?

  • Freewheel, one speed, just a rear brake is another classic.

  • Last night 18.20 ish Planet X that was very keen on massaging his über thighs at every red light. Going down Trafalgar Square (roundabout) into Whitehall. That thing you undertook was a left turning - and indicating - out of town coach; so not even a London bus that has a chance of expecting bikes. Just in case you didn't hear as you sped along - You are a dick. The three cyclist (all going fast enough and yet having the brains to wait for this coach) can attest to that. I really hope you placed in the poll position for the next race to/from work. Please don't breed.

  • Rainy this morning, lots of traffic - I observed a blert jumping numerous lights and riding on the pavement as I cycled into work.

Once a longer stretch of road was available (i.e. no lights and faster moving traffic) I safely cycled by him as he wasn't going particularly quickly. Didn't think much of it but obviously he took my overtaking as a challenge. At the next set on lights he decided to use his gears and the downhill stretch to go by me.

As he did I did something I would never normally do I stuck my hand out to indicate a move out as a car had just pulled into the smurf lane furhter up. It was one of those 'I'd better keep my eyes on the traffic' scenarios so didn't do the mandatory look over the shoulder.

It was at this point my hand connected with his kidney.

No damage done (I immediately apologised) but I felt I could no longer feel all smug for not cycling like a twat.

  • Has Noddergedden 2014 yet occurred? Not being in London it is my favourite time of year.

The morning commute doesn't change much, but if the evening is sunny suddenly my way home is light up by lots of very shiny road bikes and equally shiny riders in full kit, mostly looking out of breath.

  • And suddenly now completely filthy after the deluge of rain today.

  • Yep same. No coat, no over shoes.
