    I love this thread.

DJ, my Mrs thought you shouted "Whacko" yesterday, she said "that guy must know you really well"

    um

  • People in left only turning lanes waiting to go straight when the left filter is green need to checkity check themselves.

  • Moron on a road bike going north on Blackfriars. No, I'm not going to go to the front up the bike lane when the lights have gone green and there's a left signalling tour bus at the front. Yes, I am trying to hold you up, because you seem to have a death wish and I don't like the sight of blood.

  • so many idiots out this morning.

one curvy lady in full lycra on a spesh road bike exhibited some of the most shocking riding i've seen in a long time. she literally did nothing right.

the sad thing is you could tell she was doing it to keep her speed up and she probably thinks she's superfast on the bike when in fact her attempts to save time on her commute put her in at least 2 serious situations where she could have easily been knocked off (and been totally in the wrong) and at least 4 more where what she did could have caused someone else to have an accident.

then there was the twat on a black fuji single speed with yellow tyres who as me and about 5 other cyclists ahead of him were waiting for a bus to pull away from the lights at clapham common heading up to the highstreet squeezed through a non existant gap between me and a van a half foot to my right in the next lane, then undertook the cyclist in front and cut up another to pull around the bus and straight in front of the car next to him. the stupid cunt managed to save himself no time at all because not long after he came past me again as apparently i'd overtaken him without realising.

I was tempted to call both of them out but to be honest it was too nice a day to be getting into arguments.

    doing it wrong

  • Sounds like the sort of cyclists I have to put up with on Walworth Road sometimes... having a shiny road bike doesn't make you Bradley Wiggins, or is it Chris Froome now?

red bike, darker skinned lady in the former?

  • nope.

  • white bike, caucasian, white bibs and pink/white top?

  • This game is fun

  • possibly.

  • no longer fun.

  • spoilsport

  • still don't really get why people go in full-force lycra & clipless on a shiny trek/spesh/carererera for commuting to work. must be a pain to change. and they are always desperate to stay ahead of any other commuters.

  • I do it every now and then because its more comfortable. And then I don't have to carry kit to do a ride after work.

  • They just sit around at their desks in the same outfit. Nothing will help you win a business meeting more than your opponent being able to see exactly how big your tackle is.

  • pity doesn't get you very far in my industry sadly. :(

It feels pretty uncomfortable sitting in the same jeans and t-shirt I just rode 20 miles to work in.

More to the point, why can't I wear lycra? I have a shower at work. I shower, have breakfast, sit down to work. Who do you have a problem with what I do?

When it pisses it down and I get soaked to the bone, I don't have to sit in sodden clothes all day which would not only smell disgusting but be pretty bad for my health.

I could go on but I'm starting to question myself why I'm bothering to respond to you.

  • ^ This.

  • for up thread ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    lifesavers
one quick glance over each shoulder before doing anything on your bike
starting, stopping, overtaking, undertaking, turning, passing junctions and any time you see something malevolent upahead and if your on a straight unhindered bit of road every minute or so check both shoulders

learnt it during my motorbike training and it just comes natually now
it really helps you keep persepective on whats ahead and behind on the road

and with the amount of muppets out there on the roads it'll keep you out of their way

  • covering your face in public is obvious a complete no no...

    [lights fuse, exits thread]

    Careful now...

plus one to wearing whatever the fuck you want on a bike. Including balaclavas in -5 degrees in scotland.

  • Don't let Tommy see that.

  • I don't wear lycra, but of all of the cycling issues out there it is people's (other cyclists and motorists) hatred of lycra that I really don't understand.

I wonder if they also go home and mutter about motorcyclists wearing full kit "dressed like Evil Knievel". Why would anyone else's choice of clothes matter to you?
