  • I did something very stupid the other day.

Riding along north bank between chelsea and pimlico along the main road (40mh I think), I noticed a cycle lane on the very wide pavement, so I swerved onto it to relax away from the speeding cars, only to find it was only 100m ish long!? As I was annoyed at such a stupid setup I didn't give my re-entry to the main road much consideration and came about 2cm from a speeding mazda.

Really close to something seriously bad.

You're being harsh on Mazda here, they have really improved their engineering over the past 4-5 years.

This is how good jokes get.

  • It's ok if we chase after and pop you in the river in the name of fun though right?!

Thats a euphemism if ever i read one, tynan go for it.

i dont think they are all silly, some are just using a bike to there advantage, why ride a bike and do the exact same thing you would in a car? (following the rules of thr road i mean) i know i ride becouse i can do things i cant in a car and get away with it easily without corsing any hassle to any one, unless i want to :P

but ye some are pretty dam stupid

    Badabooom!!!

    : D

I actually like that one, very 2010 meets 1978.

  • .... I think it's quite hard to convince people to behave considerately whilst on the road.

I think you just need to leave out the "whilst on the road" and you pretty much have it as a general statement!
Why should people be considerate when cycling when they are not when driving or performing any other aspect of their lives. May be expecting a bit much on this one. It is all me, me, me in this country.

  • It is all me, me, me in this country.

Maybe you should move to a different one.

hmm. don't take it out on the cyclists - most of whom (apart from the last guy..) are managing as best they can on some lousy infrastructure. good infrastructure both keeps you safe, and makes the right thing to do the most efficient thing to do... which clearly the smurfways etc don't.

so why not re-label these vids - the consequences of lousy infrastructure?

  • I am #16, #22, #7, #47, #17 and #4

    Camelot here I come.

  • All you can do is cycle sensibly and considerately yourself and hope that it sets a good example for other cyclists and road users. End of.

  • Drove past a cyclist last night. Cycling on the wrong side of the road, going up a steep hill, while talking on his mobile. wobbling like hell, because he was only using one hand.

    Natural selection, where art thou?

  • so why not re-label these vids - the consequences of lousy infrastructure?

So does that mean careless and law breaking motorists are just managing the best they can too?

Because you are meant to, and by not doing those things you are much safer. Since I had cycle training, I've become a much safer cyclist, no rlj-ing, better road position, I hardly ever undertake any more.

  • most of them weren't bad at all. Laughed at the end though.

What did the guy at 0.40 do wrong?

Remind me never to cycle with any of you lot, FFS.

  • I was just going to type the same. To illustrate that point I shall add a "plus one".

    Morons. Morons. Morons.

You should of punched that kid in the face at the end. I hate those morones who think they're so cool poppin wheelies.

Cool video, I'm going to watch the rest.

Some didn't seem that bad though, as stated above, repositioning themselves isn't such a bad thing, just as long as you're not trying to squeeze through a 10inch gap next to a vehicle that could potentially go left or suddenly take off. If the lights have just turned red I'd do it, but if I don't know when the lights will change I stay put because I don't want to get squished...

I can't believe those RLJ's, especially that one on the road bike zinging along.

  • Maybe you should move to a different one.

Again, I am not the one moaning about it. Just pointing out that it is a very inconsiderate, out for yourself country. Works for me as I have done very well in it so no intention in moving thanks :-)

I enjoyed your videos, though I'm not sure why you would want to relive your commute, it looks like the sort of thing I'd rather forget if faced with that noddy peloton every day.

Some of the things people get up to are ridiculous, like this idiot "racing" a moped in the wet. What a hero.

  • lol ^^^

I watched a bit, saw the bike and was hey... Isn't that???

Only this morning I took out some poor bastard's left-hand wing mirror in standing traffic because I thought "fuck it, i can get through that 3 inch gap he's left from the curb NO PROBLEM"

Could still hear him beeping furiously at me from about 3 miles away .

    Facepalm.

    It's too early,

I actually read that as I Ron and was asking myself wtf one of them was.

  • noddy peloton

    :D

Do people actually wear those things. Do they make one go faster?

  • yes those yellow things make you fly

it was fun out there this morning. saw only the 3 augments, bloke on a surly by oval with a red micra..you and the bike looked more solid that the little dinky thing.

also saw some 1st class cutting up, undertaking nearmiss left hook and loads of annoying scooters fighting for position 1!!
    fun ride in :)
