Witnessed a most amusing exchange at the junction opposite Oval station tonight. Cyclist tries to squeeze past a scooter just as the lights go green.
Scooterer: "OI!"
Cyclist: "Don't oi me you stupid looking twat"Cyclist proceeds to chase down scooter with a big smile on his face before thinking better of it and backing off. Looked sort of "on here".

Hey just lastly, surely RLJing can be good cycling (instead of only bad as it seems it defaults as on this thread), as at busy junctions it can help clear the cycle congestion enabling other cyclists to progress on their journeys more quickly..
Also, generally i feel better staying ahead of traffic, and keeping on the move..
There's never a moment or scenario where RLJ is a valid option, however you tried to dress it up as.

Shouting at cyclists as they RLJ doesn't really do anything. Catch them, tell them that the light was red, but jumping reds doesn't matter if you're slow as fuck then wheelie into the sunset giving everyone the finger

No, allow it to feed your passive aggression, wait patiently at the lights and then smash it past them, observing the "must look as if making almost no effort" rule as you pass.

Don't look at them, don't acknowledge them in any way, don't let them hear you breathe, just cruise past.

I thought that looked familiar, and there I was cycling by at the end!
I just heard the cyclist bellowing 'No! You were in the wrong!'Bravo, angry cyclist!

I don't think it's really fair to blame people for the actions of dangerously impatient drivers. Taking the lane is often the best idea but requires a level of confidence and assertiveness in the face of tons of metal that most people understandably lack.
You're absolutely correct, of course. There was no excuse for the tipper truck to drive like such a cunt. -
• #7236
I can't agree with your point Jezston. The more scared of tons of metal you are, the more important it should be to you to deny trucks the possibillity of passing you at a pinch point.
I move out as I approach a traffic island etc not because I want to dominate traffic or think I'm hard but precisely becaue I know I'm not compared to a big heavy metal car

Depends how close and fast moving vehicles are behind you as you approach the pinch point though innit.
Moving into their path can be quite intimidating, if not potentially dangerous.

There is if the lights are faulty, dodgy sensors etc.

As you turn off Aldwych into Kingsway there is always a van delivering to the row of cafes right on the corner in the morning so buses pulling away from the stop just before it always end up swinging right across the road as they pull away from the stop and get held at the ped crossing.
Every morning a gaggle of cyclists ride up the left side of a bus at the ped crossing and then try to beat it to the van and every morning someone nearly gets caught pinched between bus and van as bus turns back into the bus lane past the van.

err, aren't traffic lights for cars?
I stand by my statement...

Going down OKR this morning to work, some twat undercut me while I slowing and moving right to overtake a bus right in front of me. He then proceeded to swerve right in an attemp to get ahead of me and also overtake the bus, hitting my front wheel with his back as he did (there was no fucking room for him to overtake me before the bus!). I yell 'what the fuck man', and he grumbles at me to 'stay where you are'. I mean, it's a fucking ROAD mate, nothing 'stays where it is'!
It's not my fault you have no idea about road etiquette or how to signal, you completely underestimated my speed, and you're nowhere near as quick and nifty on that thing as you think. Argh. Kind of cunt that gives cyclists a bad name. I bet he thought I was in the wrong too. Cause you know, he's a man and has a more expensive bike rolls eyes -

Saw someone on a HHSB yesterday, full disc rear and tri-spoke, but no foot retention. Plus his haircut was bad.

Take your hat off and examine the inside (in both hands of course) of it for a while before putting it back on your head and adjusting it to taste. If they speed up to prevent you overtaking, this might need to be followed by checking your nails and possibly giving them a little trim as you accelerate, without any apparent effort, and pass them anyway.
You tell em Boff.
