probly slow me down, but my first day i get patronised just so you can feal supierior,
Do you see what you've done there?
At the risk of patronising you further I am guessing you are young; under 18 maybe? Just calm down a bit, be less defensive and less sure of yourself. We all have stuff to learn. -

im guessing you mean me riding on the path and using the padestrien crossing
well, one place i usualy go to on my way home, if i go on the road thers hardly any room for me, i have to go ride by the curb or in the middle of the road, then up a tiny street cars always overtake me on then up a huge hill after a roundabout filled with potholes, but ther is usualy only a few people on the path, and i just done a 3 mile long straight so im knackerd anyway so i need a breather, so i get on the path and cross at walking speed, people rarely walk on and thers plenty of room for anyone i need to pass, many riders do the same thing to by the way and there is even a bike lane going on to the path to cross over
the road way is hell, not even serius riders use it
im not even sure why i have to explain so much(apart from abit bored) to why i choose to use a path now n then, not like i do it every day

Well, 18, 19, when you get to my age you young people all look the same.
Just relax a bit, people have got off to worse starts than you and your enthusiasm for bikes will count for a lot on here.
You do sound like you could do with improving your road positioning though; the middle of the road is the right place to be if the alternative is being squeezed in to the gutter. It's hard to discuss specific situations without seeing them - or a Google map link? - but generally being more assertive, taking the space you need to be able to ride safely and making car drivers aware of your presence is a good thing. -

So the race should be less than 3 miles?
Anyway, just because a load of other cyclists do something, doesn't make it right. It sounds like you'd most benefit from attempting to be more assertive on the road with your positioning. You are part of the traffic, just like the cars. It's a fact of life that they'll overtake you, but you can make them take a wider line around you/give you more respect, just by altering your riding style; whatever the road is like.

I don't think you do.

Empty Cans, people are having a go because the riding you are describing is fucking stupid, no matter how skilled a cyclist you might be.

Yeh, fair enough mate, I hope I wasn't judging how you ride, just wondering from what you wrote if there might not be small changes you can make. As I say it's hard to tell from a description and, yes, this forum can be too quick to judge and start calling people stupid. Anyway, welcome to the forum and good luck with your volunteering.

i feel no need for me to change how i ride, im doing just fine, i learn in my own time, i had a few close calls in the past and learned quick, irl learn from that better than i can on here from some dude who think he knows better just from reading some comments, and you wiganwill are cool, rest, not so much.
after all have people forgot bikes can be fun?? i absolutely love riding bikes, getting places faster than something with a engine just by my own power is awsome, they have to follow the rules i dont, they pay £10000s to use that engine, i dont

Wow.
empty_cans, there are loads of people who know alot more about cycling than you, or I do.
Personally, I would listen to anything at all BMMF told me about racing or long distance training.
The same goes from a guy called Courant. RPM would be the first person I'd not interrupt in track cycling advice.wiganwill has been a professional cycle courier for about 100 years (give or take a few), so he knows road craft.
In fact, just because older people on here disagree with you, its not just because they're being boring, but you could
improve every part of your cycling experience, if you were willing to learn from others.Sure, you can find it all out on your own. That can be fun. But there is more than one way to do anything.
Up to you really.

they have to follow the rules i dont,
You, sir, are a twat of the first order. When you grow up, you will learn that you can be fast, safe and law-abiding all at once, and have fun doing it.
-
• #169
man i cant even be botherd, irl just be a twat :) but atleest im having fun being a twat!
its like you poeple are just looking for an argument

You just sound irresponsible again now.
The Highway Code applies to all road users. Adhering to it doesn't necessarily preclude fun.

I was following some polo numpty by farringdon on sunday who pulled out to pass another cyclist without looking and almost rode straight into a car. The tooted him and so he abused the driver.
He then re adjusted his headphones and kept on riding.
I would have said something to him but I figured he wouldn't hear and a car would hit him and let him know to be careful soon enough.
Don't confuse a run of luck with skill. Many bad drivers and cyclist go long runs without crashing. It take bravery to seek out help. Well done in taking the first step.
Why not explain the situations which occur that give the problems causing you to ride so erraticly?
John is refereeing to training with dealing safely wit the situation which are clearly causing you problems.
