Busted. Only eight months this time so that's something.

That horse video is very shocking. Not just the behaviour, but the sheer number of riders riding like massive dicks- a few bad apples is one thing but I make that at least 10 riding like utter knobs.

We have a club rider who's an absolut arse, never listens to what's being said and is dangerous both to other riders and himself. He has a really bad habit of cutting in front, half wheeling and never shoulders checks and always when questioned why comes back with a smart arsed comment. Yesterday he undertook a few riders coming down star hill where by I lost my shit.

Interesting this is what I was thinking.

I was thinking to myself post-commute this morning that the so-called summer noddergeddon phenomenon is probably much more akin to a variation on the broken window theory. the presence of sub-standard social behaviour begets more sub-standard social behaviour.
In my example as more inexperienced cyclists come out when the weather improves the average level of cycling proficiency on the roads drops a little but enough to be noticeable and as it does regular commuters see the dodgy undertakes, the shoaling at the lights, the risky overtakes, the red light jumping and all the other shit and start to become more lax in their own behaviour because that's the new 'acceptable' standard.
then all of a sudden if feels like you're the only person on the road who has ridden a bike before and everyone else is behaving like their dad ran them up the street and gave them a push off to get them going for the first at the start of that mornings commute.
in Races this is probably amplified. a handful of unapologetic dickheads who always act like twats start to do dodgy shit and get away with it a few times and the people behind them start to think "why am I being considerate and getting nowhere while this guy acts like a dick and gets ahead with no repercussions" so they start acting like a twat as well and they get away with it, so the person behind them thinks "why can't i do that?" then before you know it there's a pillockton of the dickheads shoaling around a horse on a public road at over 20mph

I think there's so much anger and selfishness out there from all form of road users.
The need to go everywhere as quickly as possible not giving a fuck about other people, no matter whether you're on foot, bike or car. -

I can see this, if more people were able to slow down, walk, take public transport, cycle etc traffic would be reduced, emissions would be reduced, stress levels down etc.
I just cannot understand the amount of single drivers I see queuing up getting more and more pissed off they are sat in a car..

Slowing down has been a revelation for me - you'd be astonished how many green lights you sail through if you stop gunning it everywhere at top speed.
There are way more limiting factors on overall journey time than max speed of vehicle...

The rider:

Also, there's a vicious cycle effect during commuting - everyone seems to be trying to get (perceived) prime position over others and before you know it suddenly everyone's going full gas wasting loads of energy and stress. Whereas if they chilled out we'd all get where we're going in about the same time anyway.

How the fuck is this guy still a member of the club?

Ugh this grinds my gears so much.
To the guy on a single-speed with a Restrap bum bag in the Greenwich tunnel - you’re an idiot!
On the road before the tunnel - flew past me as close as possible without touching - ffs why?
In the tunnel - bombed that downhill dude nice one 10/10 bet that chain barely held up under your million watts! Right through the middle of the tunnel, again nearly annihilating me (walking), then through the crowds further down ..........

I've been through the Foot Tunnel a lot in the last year and I've seen some poor behaviour. I always walk through in the middle of the day and when there's anyone around and only ride late at night when there's no-one in the tunnel. There's a long-running campaign to get cycling permitted (which I think would improve behaviour, although managing expectations and conflict would remain an issue), but, paradoxically enough, it'll never succeed while people flout the existing ban. I haven't seen an example as bad as yours yet, but I expect I will at some point.
I still miss the lift staff.

Been using it for a few years now, but haven’t caught the lift staff days. Shame, as I’ve read in the tunnel thread (or dreamt ?) that they would call out bad behavior.
Today was one of the worst examples really. Seen all kinds of things, even pedestrians pretend-attack someone cycling, didn’t get physical though.
Witnessed the LED displays being installed, displaying No Cycling Allowed for a few months, then they went off a year or maybe more ago and nothing since then. Smells of corruption if I may get political at this point.
I walk through the tunnel and carry the bike up and down the stairs. So this is funny: he overtook me just before Seyssel St junction, we both went straight. That’s 700m to the tunnel. I was riding slow, I used the stairs. Then in the tunnel we met around half way before the flat bit. If that’s not an argument for slower commute then I don’t know what is.

I first used the tunnel about 23 years ago. IIRC, they had limited CCTV coverage of the tunnel and I've heard the same thing anecdotally. I never witnessed a bollocking, though. Miscreants could avoid them by using the stairs. I can't remember when they disappeared; upgrading the lifts took ages, and at least the northern lift was out of action for years before that. I think they haven't been there for at least ten years, probably more.

I expect he just went somewhere else first or got lost.

Shows how long it is since I used the tunnel - I had no idea the lift staff had gone.../
Where do you find these statistics? I googled it but couldn’t find them.
British Horse Society have recorded: 230 horses and 39 riders have lost their lives since 2010. Doesn’t mention specifically being struck by vehicles.
