Stay on target!
I watched, bemused, as a nodder and a Brompton Psycho zipped through a red light, right across Portland Place at New Cavendish St. You know, the big dual carriageway bit outside the BBC?
They got about halfway when a wall of white vans started thundering towards them. The nodder panicked and started wobbling to a halt, but Brompton Psycho thought he could make it and started sprinting.
The inevitable happened and they spaffed into each other like sacks of shit. then crumpled into a heap in front of the now wildly parping vans. They were OK, so I shouted "fuckwits!" and went on my merry way...

To the cretin on a geared Boardman "racing" me last night.
There is no excuse for undertaking anyone on any road ever. Doing it to me on Park Lane does not make you an awesome racer, It makes you a stupid prick.
As I saw you undertake a left turning Taxi I giggled and guessed your life expectancy as 2 weeks (The standard given for RLJers and undertakers).
That you then continued to "race" me around Wellington Arch and towards Victoria is further proof that you're a cunt. I was riding home, that's all, f you want to race don't try and do it against me on my commute you utter tool.
The fact that you were struggling so much as we rounded onto Grosvenor Place and failed to notice the Police car and three taxis, travelling in the same direction as us, slow down to a complete halt whilst pulling in to the kerb to let the big luminous Ambulance with sirens blazing speed past in the opposite direction amazes me.
The fact that you then failed to stop and rear ended me and slammed yourself side ways in to the (Now parked) crimson Taxi beggars belief.
And no, your feeble apology didn't make me feel better. I only hope that as I gave you that look and set off, to leave you to sort out your own mess with the driver of the Taxi that you'd impacted, allowed you to gain some insight as to why you are not Chris Boardman, it was not 1990s, I was not Graham Obree and the busy roads full of potential death machines between Marble Arch and Victoria are most certainly not a fucking velodrome.
You are a total weapon and the roads would be a better safer place if you traded your bicycle in for a cyanide capsule.
Yours with disdain.

20 years of being a 'licensed driver' has made me more inclined to get the holy fuck away from nasty intersections before the mad scramble by psychopaths in cars to the next set of lights as quick as humanly possible, red light or no.
/this topic has been done to death
repped to the max!

tl:dr
I too commute to/from kings cross, and I don't much recognise your description... Cycling down St Pancras Way can be slow, gotta watch out for taxis yes, but it's one long taxi rank, so what do you expect. it's fine.
RLJ-ing across Euston Rd? rarely seen. Waiting and using that traffic light is usually a most civilised experience, especially as the cars behind you tend to be taxis, already anticipating that first red on Euston Rd (westbound) so in no rush. It's a hell of a lot more sedate than arriving at Kings Cross and heading east...

Fuck me, I swear all I see these days is dangerous cycling (maybe that's a side effect of trying to cycle safer, I used to do plenty of these things).
All the lemmings who follow one RLJer. I don't actually care if people do it safely, I choose not to 99% of the time, but to just follow because one person does it, without looking, is nuts.
Then all the people who think that squeezing between rows of cars a foot apart, just to get to the front and hold them up when the lights go green, and risk getting squashed in the mean time. Seriously, why bother, have you actually considered the risk to gain ratio of that move?
I just sit at the back of the traffic (unless there is a safe way through), and the vast majority of the time I've overtaken the cyclist at the front before we get to the next lights, but I haven't risked my life in the process.

Dear Nodder on Shaftesbury Avenue today lunchtime:
This sign attached to the back of that cement mixer was there for your education, not decoration
but even without it, getting shut down half way up the inside of 20 tons of steel and concrete on your first undertaking attempt should have dissuaded you from trying again. Yes, you lived to tell the tale this time, and made up fully 20 yards compared with staying behind it from Cambridge Circus to Great Windmill Street, but if you'd got squished you'd have ruined the day of the truck driver who was doing nothing wrong, and I'd have had to waste half an hour giving a statement to that effect to the attending cops. -

Riding to work this morning I pulled up behind a bus which was dropping passengers off - waiting on the right hand of the bus as I may have gone around, cue a line of fluro nodders tutting as they didn't even look and went around the bus, a car around the other side then had to slam their brakes on.
Further down the road as I caught them up they seem to act like it's a race and now don't want to be over taken, why do people do this on the way to work?

Spenceey, No idea, it always makes me giggle, they pedal like they've a rat up their arse to get across the lights, then not 100 yards later seem to run outta puff and practically stop....... I drift past will all the time in the world, no stress, just a steady pedal only for the same thing to happen at every junction........ It amazes me that the same illuminated brigade don't realise they're stressing and sweating to gain a yard, or 3 seconds to their journey end...... while in blissful harmony with my ride I get to work not stressed, not particularly sweaty (unless I woke up late and HAD to pedal like a loon), and with a smile - Personally I reckon it's the hi-vis thing, eye recognition engages the brain and panic ensues.......... Must be a hybrid thing...... I don't get it....

After having a week or so off from commuting on bike because of my back, I have again been enjoying the amount of people who speed up to overtake a girl and then slow back down again.
"LOOK AT ME PRETTY GIRL! I AM REALLY FAST AND FIT. I WOULD MAKE A SUITABLE MATE."
mmmm, i guess i misunderstood someone telling me that boris was planning to pass a law that would allow left turns on red for cyclists, and the law actually passing. good thing i've checked out this thread...
