Day 2 and I'm still OK. Today I tried waiting for a pedestrian who crossed late on red when I had green... even smiled at him. That hurt a bit but I'm over it.

It struck me the other day as I was trying to cross a pedestrian crossing in Shepherd's Bush and dodging some teenagers blasting through the red light how the demographics of people cycling has changed. It used to be that if you saw other cyclists on your commute chances were they were other 'cyclists', either roadies, fixed gear riders or just hardened commuters. It really feels those old tribes have been outnumbered now. It's great that there are people who just don't think anything of it and just get on a bike and ride and feel they have every right to be on the road. Hopefully in time some kind of decent standard of riding will be established though because atm it feels completely chaotic.

I'd say those teenagers blasting through red lights have been a tribe longer than the fixed community as i was one 20 years ago and my brother 30 years ago. Maybe more noticeable now as the media have done a good job of convincing us they're either gonna nick our phones or throw acid in our faces?

Er, they do though.

As has happened with driving.

Has this been resolved yet?

Nope, Deliveroo rider on a single speed undercut me on Portland St last night, then jumped a red.
He had bright lights though.

Just went for a walk along the shared path in tooting bec, it's more or less pitch black as they have done some work around the path with the trees and in the process knocked most of the lights out. Anyway super super bright light aimed up at my face rather than dipped and flashing at what must be the perfect rate to do maximum blindness to anyone. Also seemed to be aimed off to the side so approaching I didn't get a sense of how bright it would be and then all side on bright flash, couldn't see after for a little bit.

Try cycling round Richmond Park after the gates have shut for the night.
There's always some d!ck with a floodlight pointed directly at eye level doing laps in the other direction.

How do the duck's feet reach the pedals?
-
• #13338
That does make eye level a fair bit lower, I think @inappropriate_bike is being a bit unfair on the duck.

There's a woman I see on the quietway in the mornings, along Willow Walk, who rides either fixed or single. Wears a woolly hat, no helmet. Chopped down riser bars not much winder than her hands will allow. She -BARELY- touches her handlebars with her fingertips as she's in full flow, or as soon as she's gotten started again after the crossing at Tower Bridge Road. It drives me up the fucking wall. It's the equivalent of driving with your knees. Her riding style isn't exactly smooth and I wish she'd just hold on to her bars as she's flying past other riders in close proximity. My nerves are frayed when I end up riding alongside her and I usually wait a minute or so until she's gone before I go back to my regular pace.

Prick on a bike waiting at a junction, red light showing to him. You can hear a police car approaching on the road which has the green light, all the other traffic stops to allow the police car through the junction. So cunt on a bike decides now is the time to jump the red light.

Followed two different riders with Ironman triathlon rucksacks this morning. Neither had any road sense or looked behind them before making unusual manoeuvres.

Ironman merch/tattoos is a warning sign to knowing riders. Like clip-on tri-bars or rugby socks.

You were like someone at a park run wearing a tough mudder t-shirt, but now you are reborn.

I'm confused, nothing in your post describes bad cycling?

Oh sweet Jesus. Thank you!

Bit unfair.
My 6 year old has an Ironman lunch box and is a careful rider.

Just hasn't found clip on tri bars in his size yet.

No way you’ve done an IM!
Just reading this made my palms sweat.
