  • Hey Clockwise, Apologies if I misunderstood your ealier post I was reacting to the idea that all ambulance drivers been the same inconsiderate drivers out there just because someone had an issue with one or perhaps two, the point I was trying to make is that we are all different and should be treated that way, we all know that cycling and driving in london is bad enough without the prejudices,..... yes is your answer not4sale but not emergency. cheers all.

  • I was thinking it was about this post a few above.

I think I know the post you are talking about, it was more about having good intentions but out of desperation entirely missing and saying something that's actually kinda offensive and unhelpful.

  • Sorry but we are talking about two different comments, my mistake for beleiving I was on the last page.

  • You've lost me too. What comment of mine are you referring to? I can't see anything derogatory about ambulance drivers in my recent contributions here.

  • Some guy riding a shitty MTB through Camden today. No lights, one hand on the bars, the other holding what looked like a piece of furniture. Scraping his heels on the ground to stop as he chatted to his Mrs. using headphones. Not long left for him, I'd say.

  • Elderly chap riding through the arse end of streatham this morning.

Front of the bike emblazoned with air horn/sirens.

Back of the bike has a rear facing front light in full flash mode.

Politely (genuinely) suggested he swaps it out for a red light as anyone behind him can't see.

You can imagine how that went down....

  • i was a bad boy today and regret it, ran a red light that had been red for about 4 seconds after it gone from orange - just was not concentrating as tired from lack of sleep - so a white van that was coming through the lights had to stop - while cursing myself for doing that and giving us all bad name i was again not concentrating at the next roundabout and entered with a car coming from right who had to slow down for me - i cursed at myself again!
    sorry everyone.

  • (wrong thread, posted in commute now)

  • I genuinely want to know how that went down.

  • I got verbals.

Reminded me of that Priory lane/Range Rover guy.

Did make me chuckle at the futility of it all.

  • Somebody thought it was a good idea to cycle against traffic on a narrow road cos they were too lazy to walk on the kerb for a few hundred meters to get where they need to be... ejits.

The equivalent of cycling "full beam" is back too, it's great people have good lights, but not so great when they shine right in your eyes and leave you nightblind for a few seconds after.

  • Stopped off to pick up some groceries mid-commute yesterday, and as I was locking up I was approached by a woman who'd been waiting to cross the road nearby. The exchange went something like this:

woman: "Why do you ride your bike so close to people?"
    me [intrigued]: "Excuse me?"
woman: "You nearly knocked me off just now."
me [perplexed]: "I don't think that was me."
insistent woman: "Yes it was. And you almost ran into me twice up there." [indicates further up the road]

I consider how she would have to be an elite sprinter in order to be almost knocked down by me (twice) further up the road and then be in position at the crossing to be similarly threatened, before I realise what's going on. No longer do individual cyclists merely represent all cyclists, we now ARE all cyclists.

  • Should have lamped her and blamed @greenhell.

  • I blame him for everything anyway.

  • She must have builded a career with sycophancy and now she is having the side effects. Poor woman.

  • ^^ u guiz r dix doe

  • But whose fault is that?

    Exactly!

  • I blame him for everything anyway.

I particularly blame him for square plates.

If it wasn't for his abject hatred of them I wouldn't of bought three dozen of them from Nisbets.

    Mains, sides AND bowls.

  • Matching square espresso cups and saucers?

  • With square spoons?

  • Yes agreed, I get this every bloody day from work collegues as I'm the only one who cycles to work the others use the company vehicles," of course its so selfish of me " I reply....

  • Clockwise in reply to @littleK

Not a euphemism, run someone over and kill or seriously harm them the fine will often be less than the cost of the bike they are riding.

Simple: Take yours off and rinse their retinas to make it clear...
