  • ..........blah...The frame is without any paint ...............
    Thanks

    Esben
    .

  • £165 doesn't sound that bad to me, my frame is columbus SL and I got it for £250, mine had a paint job though...

  • It's difficult to recognize the SL tubing without compare it with a known SL frame.
Even then you have a great possibility being wrong depending on your experience
and the choices of the framemaker.
I think that it's better to look for the (size first of all) quality of the parts, the craftsmanship
and the condition of the frame.

For instance, traditionally on sl tubesets use lugs with "lilys" but they are common lugs to depend.

also most of the italian builders use italian threaded BB.

If that helps, mine SL frames weight unpainted almost 1670gr the 55x55.5 and 1830gr the 58x56.5
Wearing columbus and gippiemme rear drop outs correspondingly and CNC bridges.

I'm not an expert, i just like them.

  • If the bb shell is 70mm wide, eg italian size, it is very likely to be an italian frame.
but this is no guarantee it is SL tubing, obviously.

In theory, SL was meant to weigh in under 2kg I think. I'm not sure how this would translate to the real world, but the frame should be pretty light either way.

  • Yes...but I haven't heard from seller since I asked about the weight. But I looks like it is Columbus SL?...so I don't have to doubt it. Lets see...

    Size :
    CT = 43CM ( 16Inch )
    TT = 55CM ( 21Inch )

Can any one tell me which year/model of Rock Hooper this is please ?

  • @Tiswas - Not best to jump to conclusions my friend - Bike is located in the middle of
sticks in France - Which is were I also live.

  • look at ebay completed items.

Prices range from about £200-£700 depending on year, size, cond etc.

  • Thanks ( TCS ) - Will take a look -

Next comes the quest for information on this bike .. As Its appears we have no real knowledge / Information regarding year & model etc ...

So if any one has any information for me that would be great.

  • Specialized have an archive of all their old models on therir website, try and seach on there and you'll find out the age of the bike.

  • Looking at the frame I would say 2006 on as 2005 had that style frame but not disk brakes.

Don't quote me on that but something like that, am a little old and memory fades.

  • @FT - Nice - Thanks I'll will take a look

    @Lynx - Also Thanks.

  • You can also ring specialized with the frame number.
    They are very nice people.

  • Found in the garage of an old friend. I don't know much about it other than it's 18-23 steel from about 1988. 700c wheels and it looks like 10 speed but could be 12.
I haven't seen it myself, I'm going on an emailed description.
It might be a 23 inch frame, but it looks pretty huge to me, could be bigger...
A commuting bike maybe, or a puppy to kill?

  • i would give you £30 for it if you want for it

  • It's certainly no puppy so slay away no one will bat an eye. Looks more like a 25" than 23. £30 would be a good price but if it fits you then it'll be worth paying out £50 - £60 if it's in good nick.

  • Right, this is going to be massively reluctant, but, I might have to sell my bike. Some mental shit has been going down since coming back from uni... anyway.

    Parts List:

-53cm Albuch Kotter frame and fork, mint condition. Build 1988 Cinelli BB shell, Gipiemme ends, 7400 Headset.
-Dura Ace Track cranks 170's with a 50T Shimano BIA Sprocket, 7400 BB (All mint)
-Record Pedals, Christophe cages and Toshi Straps
-Nitto Pearl 100mm stem and B123 38cm (New)
-Dura Ace 7400 seatpost, Concor saddle (Both mint)
-Campag record hubs, to GP4 tubs. These do have an issue, the lockring thread is a bit fucked, so once i managed to thread the lockring on, I araldited it.

I do have a Dura Ace 7600 track hubset ready to be built to some Open Pro's I'm not sure wether to sell these separately or complete the Dura Ace theme and sell them on the bike.

I've spent a silly amount on it, but I just want a few opinions on how much It could sell for.. I do have a camera that doesn't get much use, but that has a big sentimental value.. bad times.

    Thanks all.

  • Please?

  • £1

£80? if you sell to a track rider they won't care about the lockring thread.

Just guessing really..bike jumblers feel free to offer a more considered opinion

  • And sell it quick. Autumn/Winter is just around the corner so customer numbers will be lower.

If I were selling it it would be stripped and all the parts sold separately on eBay. Complete bikes never get the most money.

RPM is in the right area although possibly on the low side. The seat would get around £40 alone on eBay.

  • Alright cool, I might give the parts a few days on here first then whatever doesn't sell I can ebay. Thanks for your help people.
