Not mine - I'm considering buying, the seller has had it listed on eBay and Gumtree at 1.8k for a few months. What do we actually think is a reasonable price considering the spec is reasonable if a few years old now?

  • Any price estimate for my Surly? I bought the frame in august 2016. It is as new with no marks or dents (only one "R" of the sticker Pacer is missing); full Tiagra 4700 groupset (Tekro brakeset, long drops) and DT swiss 24 Spline. Finishing kit is by Deda. I would sell replacing the saddle with a comfy unbranded black saddle.

  • JF Wilson early 70s frame.
    ST - 58.5cm
    TT-56.5cm
Two tiny dings to the top tube which are almost unnoticeable. Paint work is very bright but is crazed /egg shell in places from age. Minor rust.
    Any estimates gratefully received

  • How much might one expect to pay for a used Bob Jackson Olympus 853 frame with carbon 1" ahead forks? Relatively good 2nd hand condition.

    Cheers!

  • I've seen lesser 853 go for £150 recently, but I'd think you could add another £100 for a Bob.

1" carbon forks are quite scarce secondhand and quite sought after: £75-£100?

  • Sorry for the late reply, thanks for that Suffolk :)

  • Vintage roval front wheel. Not my image, my rim is in much better condition. How much are these worth?

  • I got this wheel set. Hubs are really high quality product (comparable to Campagnolo's Record hubs) and they were pioneers of aero design. However I bought mine in VGC for about 50€ including Regina Extra 8 speed freewheel. I saw another pair went for little over 55€, it was in lesser condition then mine and had mismatched hub flanges on one wheel. I'd still value a VGC wheel set higher Hope this helps some.

  • okay thank you

  • Any suggestions for the value of team brite 853 road frame (missing front fork) and attached dura-ace brake set?

  • What happened there? Also looks like quite some rust on the top tube

  • Looks like some of the fork isn't missing. Been involved in a crash?

  • Yes, sorry for the slow reply, the rest of the fork snapped hitting a pothole. I probably should have removed it fully from the frame. Yes there is a fair bit of rust on the top tube, it could be in better condition I wasn't sure if it would still have any value

  • I think you meant to reply to coventry_eagle, I was just answering farewell, but no odds.

Firstly I hope you came off better than the fork.

Any conscientious buyer will be concerned that an incident that has snapped the fork, will have damaged the frame: you'll need to demonstrate that the undersides of the top and down tubes don't have a characteristic "ripple" (where the head tube has bent back), nor that the paint has cracked there.

853 has thin walls in the middle of the tubes, so any rust there will also be a concern: you need to rub it back to see how deep the corrosion is. The rearmost cable guide for the back brake also looks to have some corrosion which needs to be detailed.

There appear to be some patches of tape on the frame: most likely they are to prevent cable rub, but they want to come off too and the frame washed, lest the tape or grime are concealing something sinister..

Either way, I'd strip the frame (which will allow you to clean and check it thoroughly) and sell i) frame and headset, ii) wheelset, iii) groupset (including bottom bracket and cassette) and iv) finishing kit. If the frame is below par, this will drag down the price of the other parts.

You should be clear about what happened, what you've checked (and how) and what you've found.

There are plenty of spokes in the front wheel so it's quite possible it survived unscathed. Equally, the forks could have acted as a sacrificial part and by snapping, saved the frame from damage.

  • edit: just putting it up for sale, let's see...

  • Fixed wheels -
Nova Tec hubs, unknown clincher rims all in good order. Any ideas on a price ?
    Thanks
