Hi all,
I've got my hands on these Pro-Lite Grande carbon forks (used, cut and drilled) but in great conditions:

how much do you think are worth here?
80-90 quids seems a fair price? -

I'm thinking of getting a cheap/disposable bike to leave at Paddington Station all day once a week, so I can ride there instead of getting the tube. Taking the Brompton is OK, but it's a bit of a pain to take all the way to Maidenhead and back. On yer Bike are selling ex hire 2013 Trek 1.1s and I was wondering about getting one specifically as a station/pub bike.
Are they any good?

I had a Trek 1.6 a while back. I liked it. You will not get superb components for the £350 though. Can you build up a hack bike for less?
-
• #1509
Wish I considered £350 disposable... but
Paddington Station is fairly secure these days.
Could get a pretty sweet trackbike for that amount -

I'd rather this for £145 and a bit of love... Probably less likely to get pinched too.

Could get a pretty sweet trackbike for that amountWell it's more disposable than a grand which is what both my other bikes would cost to replace.
I would be completely gutted if my Cinelli or Brompton were stolen. The appeal of an entry-level Trek with Shimano and Bontrager kit is that I probably wouldn't give a too much of a fuck about any of it, but it would also probably be quite a good bike, so I wouldn't have to put up with riding something heavy and uncomfortable. Trouble is I know nothing about modern gears and less about Shimano. -

Yep. Good bike for that. I nearly got one as a winter bike on the cycle to work scheme, which would have worked out around the same - £600 less 40%.
They're good enough to be nice to ride and have decent components but cheap enough to not be too precious, plus you get rack and guard mounts so they work well as a commuter or even a tourer.
The only reason I didn't get one is that the new model looks a bit too MAMIL - it's all white with red stripes - the older ones are more restrained so less conspicuous when locked on the street and you look less daft riding in a shirt and tie.

I used to have a couple of Trek 1.2s. Not bad bikes by any means. Maybe I should've asked more than £300 for each of them when I sold them though, if 1.1s are worth £350.

Tubular Hed superlite rear track disc 700c. how much?
-
• #1515
Oh well, it would appear I bought one :-)
I had a test ride and it seemed like a very nice light responsive bike that works well, but looks nicely second-hand and subtle so the thieves should ignore it. Exactly what I was after.
The guy at On Yer Bike said that they serviced them after every hire and they have all had new cables. -

Hi all,
Just putting some feelers out there. Managed to stumble upon an early 90s (possibly late 80s) Geoffrey Butler 531 frame bike, looks like it was built by Cliff Shrubb (dates match and has fastback seat stays - waiting for GB to confirm but all makes sense that it should). Has a load of modern fittings, flip flop hop, carbon forks etc, really nice bike, rides great, think its a 59cm.
I had planned on having it as a second bike as I've somehow become a casual GB collector, but the day after I bought it I managed to completely blow out my knee and am in no place to ride for several months and need some money to help quiet Bupa for a bit so I was wondering if anyone had an idea of how much I might be able to put it up for/if anyone was interested. If it's not worth a few hundred quid I may just hold on to it as I've already grown quite attached, but I could also really do with the money!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
James

I said a VERY conservative estimate of £200 but I reckon probably more. Is that fair? I'm being asked by a friend and I wasn't very confident in the accuracy of my estimate so I thought I'd ask here.

Debating whether or not I sell this or frame it (as in, wait for a frame). I have one of these http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx?ID=D154629D-21F6-477D-AB90-D4802178AD57&Enum=105&AbsPos=25 with the World Logo (the one in the drawing, not the more common one with just the script). The fact Velobase suggests they may not even exist makes me baulk at selling it. It's uncut (damn you eighties weight weenies!) and in good condition (if not very good), cleaned and polished (to some degree). A few notches here and there but nothing serious. Picked it up from a mechanic I know in Italy. I won't say how much for, suffice to say a round of beers in Tulse hill is more pricey.
Aside from the Trolls and the chancers anyone want to give me a reasonable estimation?

could it be a custom milled Nuovo? The unusual broken line hints at this
how much is an old 6-speed shimano exage groupset (hubs, gearset, brakeset, BB, cranks) worth? 30/40£?
