Dreadlocks and riding

im not really after a discussion about whether you like dreads or not. and theres nothing wrong with red hair. id like to know how they effect riding.

Perhaps some people justneed a focal point for their prejudices. They might as well pick on spinster librarians from Nuneaton as red heads or Welsh people. At least there are fewer spinster librarians in Nuneaton that there are red heads or Welsh people and so fewer people might take offence.

I use the example of spinster librarians from Nuneaton as the ghastly and prejudiced Auberon Waugh once said that he wrote all of his articles with a spinster librarian from Nuneaton in mind and with his writing sought to offend her. I suspect that unmarried female librarians in Nuneaton are more robust that Waugh might have imagined but it kept him happy.

Reckon you've had some good advice already ... that they'll get heavy in the rain - but you could always tie up in wrap or hat to keep them from getting waterlogged, and out of the way of bags if you carry stuff on your back.

You really want to wear a helmet? I like the sound of threading them out of the holes! I love locks on any person. Glad to hear you're ignoring the twats.

ive got really long hair that spends most of it life tied back and under various hats.

im thinking about getting dreads, but im concerned this is going to make riding very uncomfortable due to getting very hot and sweaty. also is it possible to wear a helmet?

anyone have any experience here?

You don't need any helmet. Trust me.

There's a couple of 90s BMXers who used to wear helmets (for competition and only because they had to) by cutting out the cellular foam and wearing the plastic lid over their dreads.

i dont normally wear a helmet but im considering racing next year.

Is your head big already because if you will need a size up you need there to be a size up to go to!
