What sort do you use? I have hankering for one for a bit of night running but all the decent ones seem too pricey.

Today I started running again. Today I discovered I can't run anymore.
-
• #913
Not going on our run this weekend then?
-
• #914
Aha yeah we still should, might take me that long to recover though! Only got about 500m or so and had to stop and walk but it was more of a sprint though I guess. Got back about an hour ago and still feel like shit

Aha, sounds about right. I was meant to play football yesterday, but went to see Gone Girl instead; can't imagine sitting down for 2.5 hours with a big bag of popcorn has helped my cardio fitness!

Sounds like eating endurance to me!!

How was Gone Girl? Apparently it's fantastic

It's a difficult one. On one hand it was incredibly immersive - having not known anything about it I was drawn into the plot hook line and sinker, and was utterly captivated throughout; the length wasn't an issue for me at all. Rosamund Pike is brilliant, as are the rest of the cast in fact, and it's beautifully shot by Fincher, and superbly scored by Reznor/Ross too. That said, underneath the cinematic shimmer, the plot's minutiae could easily be viewed as (read: is) totally unbelievable, and it's come under a lot of fire for the handling of the blacker themes, with the ending being almost universally tanked.
I really enjoyed it, and have thought about it all day, but I'm a firm believer in dramatic licence and the benefit of the doubt - plot holes don't bother me so much as long as the product is impressive as a whole, which is certainly is. I'd definitely see it if you can - but aware that it's as much a satire as it is a thriller, and that it's not a totally watertight story.

Ah, see plot holes and continuity issues are a major bugbear of mine, especially when the production is top notch. Really wish I could see past it! Regardless I'm going to try and see it.

Yeah, I mean, there was nothing too jarringly obvious in the moment, but if you spend any time thinking about it you can pick it apart. But, as I said, that's where the satirical element takes the fore and the suspension of disbelief took over, for me anyway. It's hard to talk about it without giving anything away, so go see it, and then I'll explain what I mean! I wouldn't even mind seeing it again if it's not Sarah's cup of tea...

That's my problem, I think way too much about films and end up ruining them for myself! I have the book and I've never got round to reading it, might pick it up today as they're always far more engrossing.

Today I appear to be testing just how much coffee I can drink without feeling ill!

Sat in the Dandy waiting for bike progress perchance?
-
• #924
Guessing the weather has made your day very slow too eh? I remember my dad telling me to never view at a car in the rain, apparently it's the same for trendy furniture

Sat in the Dandy but not for cycle progress...mainly for coffee and bagels!
Some boring bastard is lecturing another boring bastard about watts and cadence and some such bollocks...
I'm not surprised if you were only wearing your head torch!
