I like all black everything, hence the Jamis!!
-
• #728
It will look great all black, just think I'd personally prefer all silver with it being a classic frame. I do think it'd look better with a black quill stem though ;)
-
• #729
Are you saying you have one?
-
• #730
i have a black quill stem. Would deffo look nicer silver though, keeping with the headset, seatpost and colour of the frame..
-
• #731
I do but it's an old tatty dirt drop stem, probably won't look right with the rest of the build. Kieran has one though ^

Today I...got rid of the Jamis!
The Caminda is going to be the bike for now, going to be sensible and save some spends and decide what is really like to blow it on!
Decision reached as the Caminada looks cool in my opinion and after a ride yesterday I'm loving it!!

• #733
Oh cool - looking forward to seeing it on Sunday - and you'll be on steel for the steel ride, so will automatically be quicker!
-
• #734
You know steel is real right?
-
• #735
I'm very well aware!

Today i bought myself a new rear light (Cateye £17 from Evans, 5 LED one, seems decent) and some evans bar tape.
Question to everyone, i plan on double wrapping my bars as the tape on there currently aint very comfortable, it looks quite nice, it's like a dark grey fizik looking tape. (don't have a picture handy) And the evens tape is black, should i wrap the black tape over the grey, or other way round?!
TLDR; basically, grey tape or black? On a red bike with black hardware. (Logic dictates i go black, but evans cork tape looks so cheap compared to this fiziky type stuff)

Deda elementi in black is about £4 on CRC, I've always gone with that as I've always found it a bit thicker than say Fizik, get some Cinelli Gel pads if you still want more cushion
TL;DR - black black black!
-
• #739
Good shout Rikki, never used CRC, nor did i even think of looking for other tape, might blag it for a while with the black Evans stuff on top, should in theory be nice and thick.

CRC is great but there delivery process has gone downhill recently. Thinking about it I'm sure you can still get deda tape from DH, works out about the same as CRC+Delivery but with the added bonus if having it immediately and a nice chat about bikes over a good coffee
-
• #741
Haven't been in there yet, nor am i sure where it is, will have to scope it out and take a look.
-
• #742
TL;DR - Use DH, get today and have a coffee!!
-
• #743
I dropped my frame and forks of at DH for some work today, and ended up leaving with agreeing to a new crank set, chain and the potential buy of a aerospoke front wheel...
Think Im going to have a spending problem in there :)
-
• #744
Haha - the DH was an expensive discovery for me also!
-
• #745
Today I realised I want a fixed gear bike again :(
-
• #746
I can't imagine not wanting one!!
-
• #747
I haven't ridden fixed for long time and I really fancy something a bit ridiculous recently. Something to go alongside the Olmo, not replace it
-
• #748
Ridiculous is good! I can see myself collecting a few bikes!!
-
• #749
It'll either be a tarck bike or an mtb, my sensibleness may outweigh my recklessness ..
.. Or probably neither as the Olmo isn't finished
-
• #750
Yeah, I don't know if I'll ever finish a bike!!
Either way is good. I think I'd prefer silver everything (including rims) personally, looks beasty how it is though
