Installing grips to drop bars

  • Cut a line and peel off. It's a way of making the grip really stick, problems arose with other methods if riding in the wet etc, as all are affected by moisture. Obvously if you're someone that changes grips all the time laquer is not best method, but say you use grips till they wear out, then it's fine. I found some grips better than others though, some I had I put on with an air gun like you suggest and they never shifted, others I tried everything (even washing in between) and laquer was only thing that held.

  • yea i found that it does depend on what bar/gr4ip combo you use. some were just buggers and some were fine. i was a regular grip changer so i never wanted to have to cut off. nowadays all grip problems have been solved by bonty bar tape and lock-on grips.
