How would this be administered/executed?
I, as a lurker noob type, have used the ignore function recently, and wonder if the same people are being ignored by everyone else. There must be a way of determining "assholeness" empirically , without a few strong personalities being the judge and jury.

*"After encountering the person, do people feel oppressed, humiliated or otherwise worse about themselves?"
*and so you fucking should
telling everyone they are wonderful and beyond reproach results in the callow youth we see today riding their fixie skidders paid for by the cooing parents.HTFU people. you are not in nursery school now, you can wipe your own arsehole.

2 things:
i) We'd be better off implementing a 'no arsehole rule'.
ii) A lot of bullying/arsehole types are skilled manipulators and deceivers (often unconsciously/habitually) and people on the receiving end of their poison take a while (anywhere between hours and months, or even years) to realise they've been made to feel oppressed etc. Therefore the rule would be most effective against less subtle oppressors, which I suppose is a good place to start, although they're not the ones who cause the deepest wounds.

Wouldn't this rule just increase the baiting of people so they respond and be classed an asshole. DJ seems an easy target who springs to mind

does it get connected to rep, if your rep dips below a certain point, you are actually classed as an arsehole, if it doesn't you stay alive to pump out the funnies another day?

What like ??
CB nice rider, been around world, would use again A+++
that type of thing..?
I'm quite tempted by the thought of trying it.
Basically I have a desire to reduce and simplify the rules such that they're bloody obvious and easy to follow and comprehend, and they can be written in their entirety in large font and still appear on one screen.
It stems from this: [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_No_Asshole_Rule[/ame]
But in use within a community the general gist would be that if you're an asshole then the community would prefer you go elsewhere.
It's just a though, a continuing evaluation of what I could do to make things better. Not sure whether it would work, but it's kinda tempting to try it out.
