Yeah, what could all those other languages with native interfaces, strong typing, true class definitions, (etc) offer that JavaScript can't? It's cool, for small things. I've had a play and honestly have to say I can see it being really counter productive for larger stuff. I did like it's initally fast speed which is nice for sketching out ideas though. But heck, who knows this might be the death of monolithic website architecture.

I've got the Barclay Bike Hire parking app v1 done. (it's web based so free, I've got ideas on putting navigation into a paid app) need a name though... ideas?

• an app that properly syncs any contacts in the phone with google contacts - from what I've gathered so far if I want to get the contacts I imported from my old phone into google contacts I need to re-create all the contacts in google then delete the phone contacts, grrr
  
• an app that uses the google voice search app to translate spoken words to text on the screen, would be great for deaf people or you could get different dictionaries and understand anyone
  
• an app called 'pengy goggles' where you can take a picture of your bike and it turns it pengy (for jokes)
  

1. Of course you need to import them into Google. What's it going to do, magically read contacts off your phone? Just import into phone and then Google Sync/HTC Sync will do the rest.
   Once they're in Google, no more losing phone = losing all contacts. Contacts are synced between phone and gmail so effectively available anywhere in the world with a phone signal. You can also back them up to your SD card and other stuff.

OK, I have one - but it depends on the android capability. When you are cycling, the phone detects the movement so that if someone from your address book calls, it can either give an alternate 'cycling now' message, or send them a text. Doable?

The 'find cunt who stole my bike app' . Links seamlessly with GPS chip and self charging module in the bottom bracket that is perpetually charged by riding your stolen bike to the local chicken cottage. Use your smart phone to stalk, track down or just observe the utter cunt who stole your bike then have your way with them before retrieving what's rightfully yours.

This is standard on 2.2 now in the market

Two potential camera based apps:

'Cigarette app' - overlays a graphic of a cigarette over the image from the camera so you can pretend you're smoking when you're not. When you blow on the microphone, the end glows. Basically a smoking version of iPint, so you may want to find a large tobacco company to sponsor it. Or NHS stop smoking.

'Hipster catcher' - lets you surreptitiously take photos of painful hipsters, organise your collection and swap them with your friends. Gotta catch 'em all!
