Fords often feature prominently in Audax ride descriptions, but I have yet to encounter one that's full. We rode through one last summer that apparently is often quite deep, but it wasn't on that occasion. So, fail so far. Will aim to do better.

You have to go through them all the time in the New Forest near Brockenhurst. Bit dodgy though, friend punctured his front tyre on something under all that water, bit of a nightmare.

Well, that would be a fail then. You're supposed to jump the shark.

Jacob Zuma went for a shower to try and 'wash off' the AIDS after having sex with the daughter of a leading ANC 'comrade'...he was accused of rape, found not guilty, but his confession that he tried to shower to reduce the risk of catching aids was heavily ridiculed by Zapiro, a satrirical cartoonist, who depicted him that way for several months. JZ did not like!
thought of it after I read about people showering after swimming in water...
It is clearly too lowbrow for GAG2.

Aids? Rape? Corruption?
Sounds perfect for a velocio party mix.

Yes, in contradistinction to this:

all this sub-aquatic cycling must play havoc with wheel bearings and bottom bracket!

It certainly tests the quality of your bearing seals. Any bearing which has been submerged should be stripped, dried and re-greased as soon as you get home. Leave it a week and it will only be good for landfill. Normal (i.e. not stainless) bearing steels have poor corrosion resistance.

Me and McCarthy cycled up a flooded embankment and it was up past our waists. We were with a friend aswell who later on the week discovered an uncomfortable pinkness around his privates!
Mick also had a little fun hitting super soft muck at the side of the submerged pavement and trying to unclip whilst up too his nuts in water haha :D
The river that flooded wasnt exactly... hygenic.
Awesome fun though, dont think we got pics however :(
Good times, got to the point where my handlebars were underwater. My £5 rear light was still working despite being underwater, compare that to my £30 fibre flare that takes a fit anytime it rains. Good times indeed.

I went a ride that involved submerging of wheels and long rides on gritty wet canal. (DJ was there)
I have cheap suzue open bearing track hub, and the terrible dustcap for the bearings had actually half come off.
So it got a good submerging in cack. But I never got round to cleaning it, but when I did many months later. It was fine, and span smoother than it did when new.
I think it would have been more disasterous if I didnt have stainless steel axles.

Open bearings might survive better than sealed ones. The water can run out as easily as it runs in. With seals, the pressure of the water when submerged (2 feet under water = 1psi water pressure) pushes water past the seal, but when back on dry land there is no pressure to force it back out so the seal locks it in there.

Ive cycled totally submersed, does that count!!
