  • empathy for someone not able to navigate on the road?

i got fined for pavement riding, it seemed pretty pointless but i got caught and had to pay up

so yes by my own definition i was being too childish to ride properly

    boohoo for me

can i get tea and sympathy

what comments were bigoted, apart from me thinking that you are a snivelling fool?

  • what comments were bigoted, apart from me thinking that you are a snivelling fool?

not yours but previous ones at the beginning of the thread. although the video of Fawlty towers is great

  • Pfft. If a grown up human being decides that to continue their journey they need to hop up onto the pavement to get round a badly parked vehicle, then as long as they don't go ploughing through a crowd of pensioners/children/mentals then what's the problem?

Sure, if you endanger or frighten more vulnerable road (inc. pavement) users then you should be strung up, but if not...can't we all just get along?

  • Please Tynan, I've just been having this debate with a wheel chair user. From his perspective a cyclist even going at 4 miles an hour is a scary obstacle of doom. I've got some sympathy for him.

  • ffs

i have gone through red lights and been fined once, seems like a reasonable red light tax to me

i have chosen to ride on the pavement a few times and been fined once, again this seems like a reasonable pavement cycling tax to me

however if you want to do either of these things dismount your bike, you become a foot passenger and then cant be fined

a policeman threatened me with a "furious cycling" charge for walking through a red light recently - he had already threatened the red light fine and i had cited crank vs brooks

i then had to point out as i was a foot passenger by walking i clearly was not a cyclist, hence why he could not fine me for going through the red light or furious cycling, it was brilliant watching the penny drop and his expression of frustration

  • Disappointed :-(

  • lets stop bickering and not lose sight of who the REAL cunt is in this whole sorry mess. that's right - STING!

  • Look, if you want to break the law use a TFL hire bike, then you'll just get a friendly telling off and no fine.

  • next time i'll walk to my footsteps

  • Giant steps are what you take.

  • And the truth that hits everybody is that with every breath that you take under the invisible sun of London you have to keep singing De Do Do Do De Da Da to not to Fall out under the* King of Pain* feeling so lonely

  • I got stopped for running a yellow (yellow being previous to red in this case) in the city. He made me get off and ran a name check on me, we then agreed that as it was yellow I had done nothing wrong. I was sent on my way shortly after.

    It was quite pointless really.

Not sure why this post is aimed at me, reads like a non-sequitur, you must have misunderstood what I wrote.

    ?

  • I know he's a bit, well, smug, but why does everyone seem to hate Sting?

  • Sting's cool.

  • Oh right, erm, yeah... Riding your bike on the pavement is bad?!*

*I do it dozens of times a day...
