Sadly got this stolen from me last week whilst locked in our 'secure' courtyard at work. It was an ebay bargain and an awesome first road bike.

Having bad thoughts regarding geared things at the moment... When funds allow I'll be building a super stealth Independent Fabrications SSR, black on black, full DA and Lightweight wheels... Then I'll transform my Koga-Miyata into an awesome shopper with rack and moustache bars... That is all...

Fuck that sound super awesome, especially the IF!
I highly recommend testing out every other groupset within the DA's price range though, used to like DA until I tried SRAM (unless you done that already of course, and the Koga sound pretty awesome too).

Have a major soft spot for Dura-Ace at the moment and quite a dislike for Campag, I'll be sre to test everything though before I shell out that much on a groupset! It'll be a while before I can afford it but it's nice to think about for now! Really want to crack on with the Koga now but don't want to be without a road bike and don't want to spend any of the IF fund on another bike! Catch 22!
Why you recommend SRam over DA then?

Personal choice really, I really liked the hood and the shifting of the SRAM, the two click system seemed to be pretty intuitive, what I am saying is that you should give everything a try before settling down to Dura-Ace (although the Di2 is to die for).
We got some bike in our shop that have full DA groupset (Pinarello Dogma 60.1) and one with a full SRAM Red groupset (BMC Team Machine SLR01, the one with the quill seatpost).

I would recommend DA over SRAM nearly every time and I ride SRAM.
The shape of the DA hood is similar but the material its made from is better especially in the cold where SRAM becomes rock hard. You get 2 trim positions in the front mech, the 7900 chain/casette on DA is way quieter than the 1091R/Powerdome collab from SRAM and sad to say it shifts better on both the up and down stoke, all of this for a pretty minimal weight penalty. you can also match the groupset with either the DA C75, C50, C24 and 7850 all of which are bloody good wheels.
The SRAM is cheaper, lighter, looks better and the shifting is more intuitive but there are no good wheels to match with it from SRAM. The carbon/alloy deep sections are heavy as fuck and the Alu ones are heavy, over-priced and look like shit.
Get SRAM if you want to double-tap, if you don't care and have another £200ish get DA
I'd go for the following if money allowed:
Shifters - DA Di2
Mechs - DA Di2
Cranks/Rings/BB - Zipp Zuma Quad
Chain: KMC X10SL
Casette: DA 7900
Brakes: DA 7900
Cables: Di2 & iLinks/Powercordz (1.2) -

One thing Sram Red has going for it, is the amount of options availible in the complete groupset. good range of Cranklengths, BB30 or standard, plenty of cassette sizes, and all this in both compact or standard crankset.
If you use a pretty standard set-up this is'nt an issue. But if you need short cranks for example, you can save £££s by still being able to buy a complete groupset.
Hats off SRAM.
.....Although I'm looking at a Campag record group, once the lighter 2011 version prices down the current one.

Both look well nice. Only thing that puts me off with that vintage is the brakes you get with the groupsets. Some of them you might as well just brake with your hands on the rim!

Correct. What on earth are you thinking? CAAD 10 is fine, but, for heaven's sakes, talk about change for the sake of change. Leave it Rodney, snot worth it.

I lucked out massively. Lost an ebay auction by a LOT. But was second bidder. Winner turned out to be a tw@, and the seller mailed me and said "you can have it for what you bid" as the winner never showed etc, and he's put the deposit down on a Carima TT frame using his "winnings cash". And I did. Life win for eBay for me, closed account, thanks and goodnight, it's all over, so long and thanks.
God above it's a truly, deeply, astounding, magnificently, fabulous bike.
