Identical! but a dark pink/purple colour. It's in the middle of an estate, so I reckon the kids just grab them for laughs. I was in the shop for 15 minutes! Grr.
It may have been kids, but curiously enough such bikes are also quite fashionable at the moment.

30 miles a day on a bike like that is quite something. Respec' and apologies for assuming you were shit.

15 miles each way, she's a perfect example of someone who can do that on a normal 3 speeds bicycle.
top work Dawn.

No need to shout, we're all very geared up to puns round here.

I really didn't mean to foster punning, honestly, although it is slowly dawning on me what I may have done.

Thanks! Used to cycle up a monstrous hill in Coventry on a single speed, so London's a piece of cake so far. Aside from the delights of New Cross of course. ;)

What you gonna do once you reach 102?

Good grief, Ollie... Let's build Dawn a new bike...

Evident delight?
Hardly-I just looked at the blog after reading the thread and the first post is saying someone has nicked her bike (today).
So, wasn't laughing at her, rather that it is fucking ironic that once you start a popular blog about people being arseholes whilst you're cycling some cnut robs your bike, wouldn't you agree? I think you're being a bit sanctimonious...
So the 'Ha!' is ironic. Right.
+1 to what Oliver said, apart from the bloody awful puns.

Nice blog.
As a female I haven't encountered anything like that, perhaps just a shake of the fist - but to be honest if I was to have such an encounter, I would probably smash their face in. :)

Where was that? I'm a former Coventry lad, flown as far as Leamington so still in the area.

Yes! Come to North drinks on a Tuesday. It is the best.
Sorry to hear about your bike. Always sucks. Great blog though.
Ha! Is it possible she meant south easts? :)
nb, I think Citygent might have a spare step through, if the build her a bike idea is serious? There was definatly one being freecycled recently...
Dawn, good on you for getting so much attention for your blog. I hope very much that you'll get your bike back or a new one soon, and obviously that your source of inspiration will run dry before long, ideally before you get anywhere near 101 (here's hoping, although of course not very hopefully).
I don't doubt your experiences for one moment--I've heard plenty of similar stories from women over the years. I think what people are thinking about when speculating (on the basis of no evidence) about your cycling are the questions that they have about anyone's cycling, male or female. You write in your article on why you started the blog:
Curiously enough, and I hasten to stress that I say this without actually having seen you ride, it is often precisely not 'taking up space on the road' that invites people to pass you closely or otherwise victimise you--it's often the (seemingly) timid cyclist who rides with an 'I'm not really here' body language and road positioning who looks the most like a potential victim to cowards who want to abuse someone to feel better about themselves.
Quite irrespective of any specific issues, it's always worth doing cycle training if you haven't already done so. It will be tailored to your abilities, which are assessed at the start of the training. Have a look--there's a whole sub-forum devoted to cycle training:

Enjoy your riding in spite of the subjects of the blog!
