Just put a deposit down with Ricky. What a nice bloke - really obviously passionate and creative. He doesn't seem to do "standard" either.
Am now very excited.

What's the plan?

What's the plan?
853 track frame. I got funny feelings when I saw the grey one he did recently with the part fillet-brazed/webbed lugs. So it'll be something like that, but a bit different.

I would like a lot of frames, and a Feather is certainly amongst them

I'm going direct. I actually only found out that TFG sell his frames afterwards.

Received my frame yesterday. The paint is good and the finishing on the frame itself is excellent. Stunning in fact. Really happy. Final report will have to wait until I've built it up and ridden it but I'd like to say that Ricky was a pleasure to deal with throughout. He brings loads of ideas and passion to the process and his desire to do something special with every frame meant I got something totally unique and exactly how I wanted it. On top of that, the price was very reasonable as well (especially considering the amount of custom work that went on). Cheers Ricky.
Like rob.ert, I'd definitely go back in the future.

OOhhh 853. That is lovely.
Out of curiosity, how much did you pay? PM if you don't want to broadcast it.

Love the bi-laminate (is that what its called?) on the seat tube cluster. Really compliments the stunning headtube.
Thanks! I don't think it's technically a bi-laminate on the seat sleeve - maybe that's what you'd call it, you'd have to ask Ricky. I have to admit that was the one feature I specifically wanted on mine that was also on Sam's track frame, which was the frame that got me excited about Ricky's work in the first place. It's basically a fastback style but with the top tube also fillet brazed to the sleeve rather than lugged. That was exactly the idea, to then match the style of the headtube and seat tube areas. The BB is fully fillet brazed.

Seems like a similar process to the headtube. But to honest I've no idea.

At any rate, it certianly does this.

It is similar - and I'm not 100% sure. My thinking was the headtube is called bi-laminate because it's fillet brazed to a tube that is then cut away to form a sleeve for the actual headtube, rather than being fillet brazed to a sleeve or lug that is already in place (which is how the seat cluster was done AFAIK). You're right though, the end result is basically the same.

If anyone's thinking of buying a Feather, Ricky will be at Tokyo Fixed next Wednesday/Thursday to chat to new customers: http://feathercycles.blogspot.com/2011/03/tokyo-fixed-shop-visit.html

I'm going to start saving up for a Feather frame, if anyone here fancies pm'ing me a rough figure as to how much an 853 track frame might cost that'd be grand. Yes I realize the final price is going to depend on a load of different factors, and once I have a more detailed idea of what I want I'll ask the man himself.

tubeset
small parts
tools
paint...leaves 300-350 for a tough week if everything goes fine.

300-350
Double that.... at least

I think Ricky has a price sheet now so you should be able to work it out reasonably accurately. Tokyo Fixed would probably be able to email it to you, or just get in touch with Ricky himself.
I'm after a new frame and I was checking out the tokio fixed gear website. There is one that I kind of like (perhaps a little overbudget for me) made by Ricky Feather. So I thought lets see what the guys here are saying about it and strangely enough I didn't find any post or comment about it. Anyone who has the frame or has an opinion ?
cheers
