  • Well if I lose the speed socks, sperm hat, shave my heed and legs and go out in my underpants I would be just as fast?*

    *Thats what I understood.

surely the amount of area added by an overshoes which is 1mm thick is completely negligible?

Overshoes might be better - they might not,

I think it depends on the shoe, and without tunnel testing you won't know which is faster. I wear them because they keep my shoes clean and they're bright white which should make me more visible

I thought overshoes were proven significantly more aero, with a decent reduce on wattage or whatever you serious folks measure?

  • From the porn thread posted here so I can find it again.

  • Ooooo another thread I can post my biek in...

Got buzzed by a Planet X rider round RP today.

Spinning out on 53/15 to stay on his wheel.

    I must be slow.

  • Have you raced on it?

  • No. Too old + heavy me thinks. (me and bike)

  • You're wrong on both counts. Give it a go, it's 'fun'.

  • Not sure. At the moment my body is still adjusting to position. It is fucking fun actually.

My road bike bores me atm. (Most of my PB's are still on TCR)

I'd have to step it up srsly.

    Lose the 3spd etc

  • You could race on the Sturmey. Have a crack at a local 10 in the summer, guaranteed to PB on your first ride.

  • Meebies :-P

  • you are never too fat or old to race your own PB! unless maybe you set it 20 years ago when you weighed half as much. But you can still try and beat your previous results for the season.

  • Plus I've seen people racing on a 3 speed fixed hub, nowt wrong with that...

  • What does the doo-dah in the left-hand bar do?

  • SA 3 speed fixed hub. So I can oldman it up hills.

  • you are never too fat or old to race your own PB! unless maybe you set it 20 years ago when you weighed half as much.

I set my first 50 mile PB in 1987, and didn't beat it until 2009, 22 years and about 5 stone later. In 2012 I got within 36s of my 10 mile PB set in 1991, close enough that I still fancy my chances of updating my all-time 10 time. I've set personal course records on the H10/10 in the past couple of years, on roads I've been racing on for well over 30 years.

  • Plus I've seen people racing on a 3 speed fixed hub, nowt wrong with that...

There's even a special category for it in the Mitre 25 in October, hotly contested for the Tin Can trophy.

  • I did say 'maybe'. but good work!

  • I agree with Odonata for once, this is another excuse to post my latest bike!

I have no chance of beating my PBs (short 22, long 55) set on long-dead dragstrips in my last 'proper' racing season 15 years ago, but I'm going to have fun finding out how fast I can go. My previous PBs were similar, but set in '82 on spokey wheels and upturned Cinelli 66s.

Time to set some new targets.....
