Wtf? Sometimes I really wonder, you have to admit...You guys are so damned hostile sometimes...Yes people do sometimes advertise shite with some inflated price tag...however...this hardly looks like that does it?
So, some frames are tighter than a gnats chuff...some aren't...though to be fair that gap is no more than 25-30mm...so it's not exactly slack is it? and in the first picture with regard to the front wheel...you can't even see the gap...and already you are making a judgement? It has a high bottom bracket does that help? and chrome forks...like the one in the picture...and fancy lugs on the BB and the head tube...and *track ends...*if you look at the picture you can see them, they are just like the ones in the photo that ed posted ....oh...and maybe cause it's small it has a less tight geo...that way you would have less chance of terrible pedal strike...I'm sure it's straight, nice and is a genuine pug track bike.
Why all the doubt and negativity...? when the photos appear... (as I'm sure the sister quite frankly has better things to do than take photos of the intricasies of the tube gaps of her perfectly adequate and quite nice frame to satisfy the frame police, whom, upon inspection will tell you whether or not it's kosher and if it's a wise move to buy a rarely seen peugeot track frame...when of course it damn well is you never see them and it's bound to be wonderful...whyever else would she have 'spunked' 250 euro on it after her brother had told her it was a nice frame in the first place anyway...etc,etc etc...)...I'm sure it will be held up as a paragon of peugeot virtue...This thread has hardly had a warm reception?
I think if someone were to be spending money on something, not just a bike, but anything, you'll want to know as much as possible before parting with the cash? It takes time to go and see items for closer inspection, and I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for better quality photos before wasting the buyers time and your own dibbing or whatever only to find out it's not really what you thought it was.

we want pics
-
• #56
haha Brucy
yeah from the look of the pic it looks legit - in which case 240 is totally fair enough - @Wingedangel, all we were asking for were more photos to clear up what was not actually as obvious as you make out, thats not unfair at all is it?
-
• #57
TBF... you should be able to see (at least) a decent photo
of the bike, without wheels, just frame, pure and simple, no close-ups.
It only helps when the price tag is £200 and there's a huge dent on the TT.
; )Just like this one

Angel:
Relax. Look back at the inital post. It's just a shot of his sister fiddling with the bike with no close up and a price which spurs debate. Clearly he could have waited for better photos (+ some more additional info) before posting the thread?
A little bit of banter in the forum is always expected, just dont take it too seriously :)
Also, with each comment the thread gets a bump to the top of the forum listing, as a seller, I would pretty much appreciate that :) If you have the real deal, you have nothing to worry about your offerings not selling.
Regards,

The BB height look normal, the seat tube angle is pretty slack, the wheel is slammed in, and the track end have a light grey appearance in comparison to the dark grey frame, etc.
Let just wait and see until we get more photos.
Wait for what? Wait for you to pull it to pieces based on some blurry photos?
Every one has already made there decision...As far as the jury is concerned it's a dodgy frame that has been converted...
thats what I was moaning about...no one has waited...every one went in and slagged it...
And yes he could have waited for better photos, though for the same argument, why would he wait for better photos when he knows the frame is legit...he has seen it he knows the thing is real...If he says its a pug track frame...why shoot him down? why all the hate? If someone really wanted a pug track frame...they would say fuck it...take the chance dibs it and then if they see it and it is shit...slag him then....
What I was commenting on wasn't the playful banter and the sarcasm and all the other bits that make this forum as funny as fuck...it was the slag him ..then find out its real...and not...find out its fake...then slag him...
I was drawing attention to the whole...'woah...Until we decide it's ok...then it's obviously a crock of shit and are you sure it's what you say it is...'' If it was someone 'trusted' by the forum no one would have said a dickie bird...
It's that double standard that I find annoying...Many people that have been into cycling for a very long time get treated with the least amount of respect because they are new here...
Which is fine...though sometimes it gets a little jingoisitic...
thats all.

Kellz: Might wanna edit your OP and include the latest photo. Nice frame and best of luck with the sale. Free bump :)
Angel: Your observation is highlighted below.
As far as I am concerned, when you post an item for sale you should supply it with adequate photos (not blurry and shot from a distance) and information which supports the description of item on sale. This was the major flaw, some blurry photos which you agree with.
Ed also corrected himself after the 2nd set of photos and say it is the real deal, so what's the fuss?
It's a forum thus disccussion/comment is sure to be abound. Not liking it? Bumtree or evilBay it :) Even then, if it is spotted, it will still be discussed on the Bumtree/evilBay thread ;)

vague notions of fact which were not fact in any way and based on dear i say shallow knowledge didnt help in any way or form.
b - i have never heard of a peugeot track frame that hasnt had the above done to it. I may be wrong and they did make them but think im right and they only made road frames....
y'all need to take something from this. do your research and chill in future, then there might not be so much egg on faces. stop the witch hunting and ask questions the answers to which will confirm or deny your initial beliefs. simples.
wingedangel i respect you for sticking your head above the parapet. -

What I don't get is all the retards who were saying it was a converted carbolite frame and when the lugs in the first pics show its not.
Further, there is a lot of back peddling now we've seen the money shot.
-
• #63
oh and what he said ^^
-
• #64
to be fair i said it might be a carbolite frame, i also said that I might be wrong, leaving it open for people to correct me, which they have done and which i have immediately accepted. I wasnt alone in thinking that but iv also seen plenty of pretty shitty lugged plain gauge/ 501 (maybe not carbolite but still not great) peugeot road frames so the lugging in itself was hardly a definitive sign that the frame was originally a track frame.
anyway it does seem that this the real deal after all and that the price is fair as i and other doubters (but not haters) have already admitted
this also gives the thread many free bumps, not a bad thing imo

Back to the bike. The dent is surely a drawback but still quite a steal since it's now F&F + BB + Headset + Front wheel = 240. No?
Met someone on the forum last week and saw his all French MBK very nice build. Would the future owner of this go down the same line? :)

its a conversion
why a chainstay bridge? -
• #68
Do track frames not normally have them? Mine does....
-

and mine...i think
-

It can varies, some have it, some doesn't.
-

Ed, you have been viewing this thread for quite some time now, surely an offer from you is in line? :)
Cheeky bump
Like I said, peugoet often outsource other framebuilder, so not all pug track are the same.
-
• #74
going to cycle to Paris soon to find out if I can buy some Peugeot track frame, I want them more than a Colnago/Naggy/Don Wanker track frame.
is this an offer?
-
• #75
My track frames got a chainstay bridge, think quite a few do.
good morning guys
i wasn't close to my computer last evening
i just received a dropout closup
it's a little bit rusty..
ed as i said befor my sister was building the bike on the first shot so if it's slack while the wheel was far away in the drops it's because the chain wasn't on the cog..
i asked my sister more shots (fork/front wheel)
