A post subsequent to that one- of no great value to be honest, more interested in whether posts are routinely lost in the merging process, it may have just been VB expressing his opinion of my post however!

No they don't. Or rather they shouldn't. It's a single database transaction.

The only scenario in which a post can be lost is this:

1) Thread #1 Started
2) Thread #2 Started
3) You start responding to Thread #2 and are writing the post in your browser
4) hippy merges Thread #2 into Thread #1
5) When you finish responding and hit submit the thread to which you are responding no longer exists

So there are edge cases in which we may not receive a post, but once a post is on the server then it doesn't get lost or mislaid.
