bigtwin requested deletion, I normally look and try to ask why, but having read their posts I just got on with it.
anneparker has been banned for spamming, and all posts deleted. Very uninteresting stuff unless you want van hire in Ireland.
Another 10 or so new users were banned for spamming, though their spam never made it through to the forum... a bit like trees falling in a forest.

And you are are our tree keeper

Just as an aside, if a tree falls in a forest and no-one is there to hear it, it doesn't actually make a sound.
Sound being the combination of both the sound waves passing through the air (the noise of the fall) and the instrument for detecting the sound (the human ear).
Since the latter doesn't exist, it cannot be said that sound exists though sound waves do.

birds will hear it

...and grubs

...and grubs
I think grubs would more likely 'sense the vibration' than actually hear it.
Squirrels.
They would hear it.
-
• #2784
ninjas would hear it too.
-
• #2785
But then squirrels could'nt tell anyone.
Which takes us back to the uncertainty, of wether the tree made a sound at all.

Its probably linked to Paulies's principle, or has something to do with dead cats in boxes.

Could you not fit squids to a squirrel, then when the brain wave pattern that denotes "noise of tree falling" is generated by the squirrels brain you can say that a tree has fallen, and that noise has been reported?
-
• #2788
ninjas would hear it too.
Ninjas would never let anyone know of their presence at the time of said tree falling.
Uncertainty.
-
• #2789
fucking ninjas. utter bastards to a man.

Would'nt squids need water to remain alive long enough?

Is that like strangling a mime?
Next the sound of one hand with clap?

• #2797
If there is no one there, how can we know that the tree has fallen rather than been dismantled by a large band of subversive pixies?
-
• #2798
Lfgss, helping me understand tree noises since 2011

• #2799
= no trees

Go careful, you may get late night phone calls and promises of a lift in the van.
