I think they perform different functions

Right. Maybe they do.
Edit: yeah, they do

Hmm, now that I look. It's interesting that someone posted the same thread in 'best' that I just posted in 'gold'

As in a rename? or actually deleted
-
• #19165
Actually deleted.
I'd missed his PM, but he'd asked three times and very clearly... I still checked to confirm, but yes he was unequivocal and wanted account deletion.
When we delete an account, the public content is retained but merged into the bucket that is the @deleted account as this means we don't accidentally nuke all conversations they've ever started, or turn threads into incoherent bundles of comments (oh!).

No, that's what the absence of proper quote attribution is for š

Derek
that's what the absence of proper quote attribution is forA link to the comment via "in reply to" is stronger than the editable text that other forum software uses.
Also the tree is partially visible through the permalink https://www.lfgss.com/comments/16127932/

Think Dov was just after me - so around end '07.

• #19170
SeƱor_Bear was helpful often in the Rapha thread and others.

Dov is quite wise and considered and contributed a lot here and continuously showed generosity of knowledge and resources. I am assuming the tired trope of invoking him as the spokesperson for all of of Brexit may have worn a little thin. Especially as I know him to be a considered individual and not the gammon on a bike that people who have never met him assumed him to be.

gammon on a bike

He didn't turn up in the Brexit thread all that much and nothing recently.
I'd assumed he'd flounced because of his comments on the north cape rider killed thread. I can't remember the details and he's deleted them now, but I remember thinking they were ill advised.
-
• #19174
But people used the @SeƱor_Bear to try to draw him into Brexit debates continually, long after he had stopped engaging and or responding on the matter. There was a continued insinuation that he is some kind of racist gammon, which I know to be so far from the truth that it is quite comical but also felt frustrating to see him being repeatedly tarred with that brush.

Why assume a flounce at all? People leave for all manner of reasons, the most obvious being to remove a major distraction/time sink. Seems pointless to speculate.
I'm curious where that link leads
