Yeah I realised after posting, that in fact one of the culprits was an ex-polo player who I think dislikes football...
But all the same, polo is a small community who don't really start fights or sling insults (at least not to the point of offending people outside the community), whereas the football thread has been home to some of the most offensive posts and tags on the forum.
But you would have to go in there to be insulted, right? Maube just rename it to "The Fucking Football Thread" and people could go in forewarned.

That suggests that anyone who like football should like sexism and racism (or what ever is being used to be offensive) or would you also start a football for bedwetters thread?
-
• #13079
We don't already have one?
-
• #13080
No, just several bedwetters threads. Forums of them if the truth be told.
-
• #13081
Has this been resolved?
-
• #13082
I would guess it's to do with Polo being a separate sub-forum, whereas football is a thread.

Ssssshhhh! Don't give Clive ideas. He has to suffer enough from his lamentable addiction to football as it is.
-
• #13084
Ditto.
Or give the lads a sub-forum and then one day cut the ropes.
-
• #13085
Leave him alone to finish microcosm and they can have their own football forum.
-
• #13086
A quick google suggests to me that there are already too many football forums...

A quick google suggests to me that there is too much football...
.

• #13088
True, number 2.
-
• #13089
And there lies the truth of this. There a number of people on this forum who simply do not like football and would like to do anything they can to stop others' enjoyment of it.
I don't like Coventry but would not do anything to stop others enjoying it.
Live and let live, that's what I say.

great idea. +1

• #13091
Fatal flaw in your ideas. We're not going anywhere, we use other threads to communicate with you bedwetting melts so cutting away football would just remove our sweary corner and cause us to vent and be stupid in the non-football threads. Like filling that stupid yellow bikes thread with pictures of green bikes.
Back soon, off to google images.
-
• #13092
I don't follow football and vent and swear far more than you bunch of sweaties. I think you'll fit in just fine around the rest of the forum. Anyway I just ignore Football so I'm not sure what the issue is, save for it continually being mentioned in here.
-
• #13093
^ Pretty much my position.
Besides, the real issue is cliveo constantly moaning about tags.
That and the politics of the football thread (which I have no clue about, but assume follow team loyalties and ancient religious and geographic issues) is occasionally whipped up on purpose (because trolling the fans of other teams is part of what it is to be a fan) such that it blows up and then impacts the wider forum community (those that couldn't give two hoots about football).
I'll solve the tags thing right now by doing nothing whatsoever.

• #13094
As per usual, this forum is picking up where Thatcher left off with the demonisation of football and its supporters, and by extension, the demonisation of the working classes. You would.....
EDIT: are we getting tags? I take it all back...
-
• #13095
Everyone will lose tags. Then football will be blamed.
Velocio has clearly been studying concervative party policy on football.
-
• #13096
No, he's going to ban Clive... That's the obvious choice for VB
: nice edit vb.
By the way while I'm posting, I should point out I don't hate football, I do support a team, but don't come to lfgss to talk about football.
-
• #13097
More attacks on the working class.
-
• #13098
Seriously: tell me how the inter fan rivalry spills over into other areas? Are those relationships any different from the relationships others carry over the forum?
I mean, I'm antagonised by lots of people who don't use the football thread. To the point of ignoring them.
-
• #13099
We are talking about bicycle football aren't we? Not that silly rich persons game, soccer, which billionairs play and millionairs watch?

I'm not sure I've seen evidence of this either, unless it's on parts of the forum I have on ignore.
Yeah, they just ignore the others.
