The flask of sausage and beans is a winner, can't tell you how re-spiriting a bit of hot food is, especially having a few mouthfuls left at the end before queuing for a proper plate of food.
Is the support vehicle going to be available to take a nosebag to the halfway point and crate of beer for the finish?

I'd love a flask full of soup or beans and sausages - I don't think it will keep warm some how though as I'm leaving mine at 1pm.

Thank god for that pair of flasks we bought last Winter for mulled wine on the move. Beans in one, coffee in the other, I reckon. Or two beans? Two cans, obviously, not literally two beans.
Heh, two cans! Four candles etc

gayness! how many do you need to get a second coach?
45 confirmed and paid.
Though it creates the problem of requiring a 2nd truck too, but in theory could be done.
I'd wait though... some people inevitably won't turn up to the start or will drop in the days before... and those seats will either be re-sold the day or two before, or far more likely will be empty and available for purchase at Dunwich.
Feels risky I know, but seriously... a 1/3 of people who sign up to rides never turn up to do them even though they intend to right up until the last moment.

I shall be riding it geared towing a buffet cart judging by all the food that's been mentioned already on this thread.

Geared here.

Ah OK - Barry's last FAQs say that cafe opens at 6am as arranged but if the cafe owner decides to open earlier, that's up to him :)
It makes it much easier for them to cope with the time when most people arrive to have fed the early birds right from when they arrive.
I think I told Barry on the last ride how early the café opened; I seem to remember that he was genuinely unaware.

What's that?
It's a Thermos flask.
What's a Thermos flask?
It's a thing for keeping hot things hot and cold things cold.
It can keep hot things hot and cold things cold?
Yes.
That's amazing, what have you got in it...?

I wouldn't mind taking a risk on this, as long as I knew that if a few seats come up that I'd get one. Wouldn't want to be on the beach and find that there were a handful of spare seats and that other people who hadn't put their name on the list had taken them.

Greetings folks,
I have been reading the food posts with interest. My faith, the odd fig roll and lucozade sport are the things that keep me going whilst riding. I will also be fully lasagne-d up before I leave home.
I wondered if someone could shed any light on the following... I have a hope vision light at front and am wondering if there are any other hope vision fans out there and if so, how many spare sets of batteries am I likely to need? Light says 3 hours burn time on max power which I guess I should plan for, so was going to take two spare sets and leave with new batteries. I have a cat eye thing for the rear and a couple of changes should be fine for that.
Oh and it’s 16 days to go!
Peace and Love to one and all,
Tim -

Done a big distance like that fixed before? I'm considering it.
What ratio will you be using?

I'm riding fixed - did 90 the other day, knees were sore, but it was all good.

I think it'd almost be worth organising a half empty coach for everyone who won't have thought out their way home.
If there is a second coach i'm 100% in. Annoyed at myself for not booking a space.

I'm beginning to panic now that in 17 days time I'll have government agents knocking on my door accusing me of being the mastermind behind the giant Methane cloud that wiped out half of the East coast. :[

I'm picturing 'The Mist' by Steven King....only with a more Tomatoey aroma.

Most I've ridden on fixed in one day is 140 miles. Choice/adjustment of saddle becomes very important ;) as does proper bike set-up. Don't try it on a frame that doesn't quite fit you but does for the odd commute. Depending on which bike I use, the gear ratio will either be 50:19 or 48:19.

Ill be on 46x17. 71 gear inches. Furthest I have ridden fixed is 30 miles. How hard can it be?!

Probably fixed, if I can remove the damn freewheel it will be 74" with a 65" on the flip, otherwise 74" with a 69" ceased up rusty freewheel and no back brake.
Pray for a clear night as I have misplaced my front light so unless I find that I will only have a knog frog on the front.
