Will I drive myself mad if I bring some stuff in a courier bag? Should I try to stuff everything into jersey pockets/saddlebag?
(noob anxiety)

Yeah courier bags are a pain in the ass over long distances. I'm going for lots of small frame/saddle bags - the more weight on the bike and not on you the better!

I've got a few people to ride it with but due to my knees I'm not sure what speed I'll be able to comfortably ride for the whole night. Even if I ride at 12mph I'll be there at 7 in the morning. That really is the slowest I'd go though. Probably more like 15-17mph.
Similar speed here. No hurry to get there (lift doesn't arrive until about 1000) and am well low geared so will be just pootling along.

Couldn't agree more. No matter how heavy the bike ends up feeling compared to normal, your back, neck and shoulders being unweighted and free to move around feels so much better.

Cafewanda - are you riding? Can't remember.
standing on tip-toes looking for a familiar face in the crowd
Yes I am sweetie. Will be on a Trek with a Carradice bag and accompanied by my bruv. We'll probably be overloaded with stuff and I'll be as nervous as hell before we set off :-).

Aah. Pace? - Slow. Departure time? between 8-9pm.
As long as bruv and I arrive in time to eat and have a Guinness before the SC coaches leave I'm truly not fussed. Am also not working on the Monday so if the worst happens, train from Ipswich.

9-10pm departure
18 mph rolling pace
6.6 hours
2 hours for food, mechanical and natural breakes
So 9 hours to get there with sunrise at 5 am, so ride into the riding sun planned
Thats my rough target -

Just go as fast as you feel comfortable.
