katie-coo said the second couch isn't happening. If you really want to do it, still do! there are train stations all around so you can always have a snooze on the beach before riding to one of those.

i have a train question: if we book in advance from say, Ipswich to Liverpool Street (currently £18), and we miss the specific train we've booked for, will the ticket still be valid? and if not, are you likely to get busted?

Technically your ticket is valid for only that specific train. It depends on whether or not there is a ticket inspector on the train and how strict he/she is. I've seen someone on another line get caught for being on a different train and he just paid the difference for a full price ticket on the day.
If there's no ticket inspector then the barriers will most probably let you through at either end regardless of the time.

long story, but essentially was towing another bike beside the one i was riding, handlebars got snagged and i came down on the ankle with a pretty huge impact. it didn't twist, but i can still feel it all the way up through my pelvis.
i tried the hex key yesterday and it fits! now to decide whether to change the saddles or not...

are the saddle rails the same as diameter/spread as standard saddle rails is of course the next question :P all well and good getting one off, but fitting a replacement is another matter...
-
• #1187
^ there's always one...
-
• #1188
can you change the pedals also? straps or clipless would make it a fair bit easier....
you should also put some lighter wheels on and maybe motor :p

no, i was thinking about retrofitting straps but i think that would be proper cheating...

To be honest, it could be much worse if it happened next weekend on an unlit road when you're tired, so consider yourself lucky. -

hmm, head of tfl press is following me on twitter.
-
• #1195
^ for good, we are interested in what you are doing an would like to use it to promote our service, type reasons? Or bad, we know what you are doing and will arrest you for stealing one of our bikes as soon as you leave the greater London area, type reasons?
-
• #1196
Is there a line you cross and then the transport cops pounce on you?! Inconvenient if you live right on the edge of London!
-
• #1197
This is going to be your 15 minutes.

• #1198

if they are following you on twitter get talking to them. still a week to convince them!
They just snapped. Only a few grazes thankfully, I guess I should count myself lucky it didn't happen 5 minutes earlier when I'd been coming down the hill from Hampstead.
