Fooh. If it were Thursday I'd be up for it. Are you dead set on Wednesdays?
-
• #5
I meant for after this one.

Not at all. In fact, want to ride weds and thurs this week. Not on child-duty so trying to make the most of it
-
• #7
Hey both, can do this Thursday instead/too, but not in the country next Thursday (5 Aug), so Weds would be better that week. Let's see how we get on...

Emjo and anyone else who wants to join, 7 15ish at the cafe? Aim for 60/90 mins (legs permitting)? Warning; I go backwards as soon as there's an incline...

Ok, great; although... do you mean the cafe Roehampton side or the one in Pembroke Lodge?
Am prob going to stay on commuter bike, so black Specialized frame, white grips. Me = black bob; white top/grey leggings. See you then!

Great - yes, meant that cafe. Have pm'd a few women on the forum to see if anyone else wants to join

Great - see you there!

How many miles to the lap? I'm trying to figure out if I can hack this, having really wanted to join in on training rides but being concerned my regular commute from Bromley will make this difficult.
-
• #14
I think it's about 6 miles a lap?
-
• #15
Ugh, why does it have to be so far away?? What kind of SC or SE training rides could be possible? I know everyone goes to Richmond Park but I just don't think I can hack that while I'm working in Bromley.

I'm normally very down for this, just that this week has gone to heck with guests coming at the end of it and a mate I the hospital for the week.
-
• #17
so how was it ladies? Sorry I wasn't up for it.

It was fun, but... we didn't actually manage to ride together! I got a bit lost on the way, so was v late; set off in pursuit of JJ, but we kept missing each other. Next week! Are you up for it? Doesn't need to be Richmond Park if that's too far for everyone?
-
• #19
Yes, it was more of an individual pursuit than group training session; hampered by neither of us knowing what the other looked like!
Defnitely up for next week - either RP or further east - I can search some routes on line and see if I can find any suggestions to plug into the Garmin - perhaps a 20/25 mile circular route, or a one way route ending at a station?
I've found a great pub on my way home from RP, btw - stopped for a well-earned pint en route. -

Hi ladies
I'm new here but wondering if another training ride is under way soon? I've just got back from cycling Bristol to Coventry and I really want to keep up with cycling long-ish distances.
Am based in the Elephant & Castle and commute to work in Brick Lane... the red lights drive me BONKERS!
Cheers.

Take advantage of the red light then, use it as some kind of training, like sprinting to the next light like a cars in quick succession.

I didn't realise Brick Lane was a red light district? ;)

It would be much more interesting for all if it was indeed a red light district! =)
Thanks for the tips!

Happy to try to organise a ride next Wednesday (11 Aug) - could do laps of RP as an intro, or if people are feeling strong (and have lights) I could try to lead an excursion into the countryside. I did an evening ride to Farnborogh (30ish miles) from Rich Park a couple of weeks ago - ride out/train back - bit like TNRC although not quite as fast. I could see how possible it would be to make it a shorter route if people would prefer.
And how about aiming for a fornightly Wednesday womens's training ride (proper title and acronym to follow if enough demand...)
Emjo, Nhatt, Veevee, Tika, Tricity, Cafewanda, Jayloo, everyone else - any takers?
I'm determined to a. get fast then b. get fast up hills

Oh bollocks! Can't make it on the 11th! But please keep posting! I'd like to make it out soon!
Hello. Myself and Emjo are planning to meet tomorrow 28.07 at 715pm for a few laps of Richmond Park as an initial go at a training ride. I'm hoping we'll get more adventurous over future weeks and start some proper training rides out to the country.
Anyone in? (Men welcome too btw) Obligatory list:
1.jenny j
2.Emjo
