Well I don't know how much difference if any the grade of steel would make?
Would take Tiagra over old style 9 speed Sora though, a modern saddle over a brooks. Similarly I'd prefer a compact to a triple, and fully Shimano wheels over whatever Freedom Ryder Trekking 23 rims are. It's got BB7s not BB5s as well. I guess the Raleigh is more full-on touring, the Planet X more all-rounder.

Bro do you even tubing?

Well I have no personal experience of either 'Reynolds 631 butted' or 'Maxwall custom double-butted chromoly tubing, with an all-new externally butted top tube', so I guess not. Reasonable to assume that 631 is meant to be 'one grade above' perhaps, but what difference is that actually going to make? Perhaps the double butting and external butting makes up for the difference? Or perhaps tyre choice will make more difference to comfort, and component choice more difference to weight and stiffness? Who knows.
double butted lol

Soma has little attachment for mounting to wheel axle, VO has eyelet mounting.
can you use the soma with quick release hubs?
-
• #5931
I'm using it with a QR, still alive, front teeth intact etc.
It seems possible to bolt them to the fork if you have eyelets in the right places too.

I'd be worried about those string ties getting drawn into the spokes.

I'd be worried about asking someone to make me a peach stem.

That bike really made me realise how much I hate honey colored leather..

to add to the hate: brave colour choice on the racks

That bike really made me realise how much I hate Rivendell-Petersen-esque hippy fake-rando bullshit.
The only parts of it I like are the pedals, rear light and tyres.
The rest is trying way too hard. The luggage is unbearable. -

Berthoud has been around forever though, only recently became popular (and otherwise).

It's like somebody buying an entire outfit, luggage and eyewear at the same shop. Looks shit. Painful, even.
Needs 'making honest' somehow, and a tiny bit of dirt on the chainstays isn't quite enough. -

Paint that grey or a drab olive with black or silver racks and it'd be awesome.

Then plough the bike into the earth, with salt.
Alternatively just post in 'anti'
Do you reckon? Raleigh comes with rack, guards and Brooks, plus has a 'nicer' frame material. For touring you can't get many better deals.
