Running a cassette on a singlespeed with an ever-so-slightly slack chain is a bit silly... if the chain shifts onto a different sprocket, you'll break something. I bent the dropouts on my beater doing this - but it was only a beater, not a Fondriest.
+1. If you just potter about on the flat I guess the chain might stay on, you're risking gouging the bb shell and chainstays though.

With a quick release hub fitted at a 'reasonable' tension, it just pulls the wheel forward if it hops up, down a gear.

I got a long fine like that for some time, when the chain jumped up the cassette it would tighten up too much to move at all, but no loose wheels and no damage at all.

Just road bikes with mudguards, but nice enough to post here i think.
The owner sure has some good taste.

Does anybody know if there is an equivalent to those Honjo fenders in 20" (451c)? I'd like a 700c and 451c for my cargo bike.

^^Lovely stuff! The sort of road bikes I'd like to ride :)

^^ Maybe look for older kid's bikes.
SKS has made that size for Dahon in the past, maybe find a dealer, although of course that would be a plastic/aluminum sandwich. -

^^ Marinoni is still around, though I'm not sure if they do lugs these days.
If you're in UK, much more economically viable to use one of the excellent locals. -

One day when I have the cash for a custom, I certainly will get one built :) currently lusting after brian rourke frames..
unless you're actually racing or the weather is great, a road bike should always have mudguards and full length if possible IMO. And those smooth honjos look great!
My current audax bike isn't far from these really, but is a bit beefier for comfort+durability, rather than speed, and usually has a million bits attached to it :p (saddlebag/handlebar bag/gps/bottles etc)

If i fitted mudguards to my road bike, id probably trim them down for a cleaner look, just have enough to stop most the spray, then matt black to, just long enough for a pleasant ride but still looking good.

Could get a set of Honjos adonised black? (right?)

Why are half the wheels really clean?
There is a weight difference between the Evo, Evo Nano and Ballistec. I'd be genuinely interested to find out what it is.
In the roadbike thread.
