  • NEEDED:

4 700c used innertubes, to use as the net supports for the goals for the open. Can someone bring to south polo tomorrow, please?

*Goals are gonna be fucking sweet!

  • moved all that rules shit to the rules thread.

    https://www.lfgss.com/thread13115-5.html

  • guys you still need goal refs ? I can .

  • So nothing has really been mentioned about the food situation so far. I spoke to Jono last night and basically the options are to either get about 6 poeple who can cook something for about 50 people each. Which the main problem i can see would be transporting the ingredients from supermarket to home, and then from home to the court.
The other option would be for everyone from London polo ot bring some sort of dish e.g. pasta, salad, cakes etc

I think at this late notice the second option will be better, but it will only work if everyone gets on board.
    Who's in?

    3. Therese (+friends) cakes and I can make some pasta if I can get help with transport to the court.
  • Julia said she would make cookies and stuff..

but if someone can arrange some funding and some transport, we could make a big chilly or something similar

  • Jono said there are some funds available. Works out at about £1 per head.

Max if Jono gave you the funds reckon you could make enough for 50 people?

    Therese, this will be great!

  • Jono, If you can point me to the size container you were talking about last night I'll make a batch of penne with Napoli sauce... How are you going to heat this stuff up?

Lori and Caroline will be coming up too so we'll be able to transport it down on the train if I can't fit it in my Belk...

  • I was thinking of doing a chickpea curry. Not sure about heating up anyone got any ideas?

I have a small camping stove?

  • We can buy a gas powered grill to heat things if needed, lots of easy pasta, salads and apples would be awesome too.

Joe: I was thinking the big tupperware ones they do at pound shops could work, but if you find any container you think suitable and keep the receipts (for any food too) I'll re-imburse you, legend.

Max: I'll have a van on the day and can do a "food run" if needed, no probs.

Jo: Yep, £1 a head, so if you bring food for about 10 people then I can give you £10, etc.

  • Does anyone have a good miniDV camera to film the final / semifinals?
I have one but its showing its age, and it only shoots in 4:3.
I talked to Dan but its unlikely he will be there on Sunday.

Also, I'm probably going to bring my Minidisc along on Friday and Saturday to gather the opinions of players on some of the more recent developments in the game, around the rules, technology of the bikes, standard of play, differences between europe and NA, potential growth and conflicts that may arise from this, e.g. with corporate sponsorship, and so on. It'd be for an article for any magazine that would take it, primarily aimed at polo players to read and think about, rather than just the bog standard 'this is what bike polo is' type article for the unfamiliar. I cant play, or drink, at the moment, so may as well make myself useful... so if you see me coming with the MD, feel free to pontificate.

  • kev a mate of mine if filming for the 'the open' but maybe you could do some stuff with him on my camera, i'll pop into your work today and have a chat..

  • Great idea!

We'll make something - probably only enough to feed a max of 8-10 people though. If everyone can do this...

  • Jono, are you definitely gonna get that stove? If so i'll do a load of curry, otherwise i'll make cold stuff?

  • Make cold stuff I reckon, but I'll source a camping stove... too much hot stuff will take ages to heat for everyone!

Thanks again to Gabes, Ryan and Rik for the goals, awesome.

Cool, i'm gonna bring my little camping stove too. Got no gas though have you got any of those aerosol style gas canisters?

  • Wicked, are they neon?

Nope, Gloss White, ball should be easy to see, the GVA Red goals were a nightmare to goal ref with, several shots got miss-called.
